Struggling to see why this was rejected

Hey all! I’m genuinely struggling to find why this was rejected in the first place, especially that my appeal was then rejected.
Any insight is appreciated, I’m going to reupload it and even provide proof of a neighborhood activity pamphlet referring to the park by this name and meetup activity there for a sled day.
I just can’t see what I did wrong here? Thanks

I checked the area, and I don’t see a park here, just a drainage basin.

I do see benches along the sidewalk, but I see those lots of places, and they are very generic.

Just because you played here does not make something a place set aside for that designated purpose. Do you have any evidence that this is an official park from the town or neighborhood?

I think its eligible. The bench give a good point of view in the area. I recommend u resubmit with different point of view.

I don’t think you did anything wrong.

The benches indicate that this is municipal property that is open to the public. It’s not fenced or posted as a water-catchment that is expected to return to the natural state. It has obviously been seeded and mowed and yet doesn’t say ‘Keep Off the Grass’.

It looks like the suburban version of a ‘pocket park’ for the community’s enjoyment.

The thing that strikes me is the appeal reviewer calls it a park when they say “this park is not eligible”. So they agree its a park, but rejected it anyway.

Surely rejection would be because they do not believe its a park? Parks are used as examples of great places to nominate so you would imagine the barrier to overcome is to ensure the submission shows its a park - which clearly was done as the appeal reviewer agreed it is a park.

Well personally i think its a great place to socialize. So no reason not to resubmit.

We have had plenty of examples of “just a patch of grass” not qualifying as a park. See this very similar example:

tldr version:

this should help greatly

Yeah agreed, was just interested that the appeal reviewer did call it a park

Its a copy pasted response for the park category, it does not mean they agree its a park.

But the OP have at least bench for representating the park. While the example blue crest hill is quite barren. On the other hand, the view from bench provide anchor for great view. Well i will let niantic decide on this.

How did they come to have a standard rejection form for a venue that is normally acceptable?

Doesn’t this imply that someone came to the conclusion that some park somewhere was just so plain vanilla that it merited rejection simply for being a normal park?

And they have done the same thing for other objects, buildings, activities, and venues that they also claim to want for their database.

This is just a normal art.
That appears to be a normal church.
That sign is so normal that it fails to signify anything at all.

Do they also have them for normal war memorials? Normal holocausts?

That appears to commemorate the life and death of a normal, heroic firefighter of no particular significance.

I think there is a major problem here, and these examples just some that have surfaced on the forum.

Im not a philosopher, i dont have the answers to lifes questions… i simply corrected a misconception

But they called it a park - that’s not a good thing to do if their point is that it isnt a park

Well the reply said that its likely not permanent. Which is quite odd. I am not sure if the bench is bolted or no. But the bench has its own spot in the park

So to update on this, I took a lot of y’alls advice and made the bench the focal point, named it even to be more for the view point, and included some signage put in by the city to pick up after your dog… And it was still denied.

I can’t contest it yet because it hasn’t been 20 days to appeal but I’ll be appealing.

Are they using AI to review? This was submitted less than 24 hours ago.
Any advice?

Yes this was declined by the automatic system, nickname Emily. So it hasn’t been reviewed by a human.

My park submission with picnic table also got rejected by AI. I appealed and got it approved. U can try submitting with different photo or wait appeal cooldown
