These are images of supportment information for the nomination in the mountains of Hitachiota, Ibaraki, Japan.
Can you all see the subject that is a candidate for Wayspot?
Sorry, you were saying these were the supporting photos of 3 nominations you reviewed?
If yes, that’s really odd. It’s not really supporting their nominations and would make me raise suspicions that they are not legit
I guessing these are all from different nominations, but maybe the same person @kawin240.
All I’m seeing is legs and feet in 2 of the photos, and a backpack in some brush in another; I don’t know what was nominated, but nothing is saying that an eligible place was nominated in these photos.
Keep in mind that we are told to take a photo of the surrounding area for our supporting photos. Not all Wayfarers realize that they need to take a photo of the nomination within the surrounding area. If this isn’t on satellite and/or Street View, the supporting photo needs to place it in the area, and none of these photos do that for me.
Yes, I reviewed these three.
I reported the second and third image requests to the Wayfarer team for possible collusion, and received a response that action had been taken against the applicant for the third, but that the second could not be removed. I was puzzled because I did not report that I wanted it removed, but rather that there was a possibility of collusion, and I received a strange response. I then received a review of the image of the first shoe. I have not reported that yet. I can assume that it is probably all due to the same nominator.
I posted this on the forum because I thought I might be too nervous. I am very curious as to why I am receiving reviews when action has already been taken.
If these are just the supporting info photos, there’s nothing wrong with them. Some Wayfarers just take really bad supporting photos. I can’t find any reason to report for abuse just from these 3 photos.
I don’t think there’s any collusion, which is trying to gain an unfair advantage by working in secret with others, and there really is no way to prove this from these photos. All the Wayfarer(s) may have gotten is a warning that they are submitting using bad supporting photos and information on what makes a good supporting photo. We are never told what action is taken, and it’s possible that Niantic decided not to remove any of their other submission from the queue.
Yes, it’s possible that these could be fake, but being I don’t know what was submitted for the rest of the nomination, there’s no way to judge them.
Remember, whenever we report abuse, Niantic will never tell us what action they have taken from our reports; we all receive a response that action was taken, but they can’t go further into what that action was.
I absolutely agree with reporting these. It’s very possible that there is a review ring and the way they identify their nominations is through taking support photos of specific objects that I identify their particular nominations to others. There’s honestly no reason to include the items or objects that they did otherwise.
@CrownFeather I would’ve done the same as you and reported them.
I think their main point now though is why they are still seeing nominations in queue with photos like this even after reporting.
Like I noted, we aren’t told what action is taken against someone we report for abuse; we are just told that action was taken. It’s up to Niantic to decide what’s the best way to approach each abuse report, and each will be handled differently.
I certainly have reported abuse using the abuse form, and will still see nominations that are similar, and have to report again. There is an abuse ladder that is used, and it’s possible it was used in this case.
Thank you all for your replies. I have thought about your comments and decided to report back to you.
