The whangie appeal rejected

Just brining this up as people have said to start a hew thread about it (though i messed up thought id appealed it twice, it was acrually on my list to appeal but i picked something else lol)

The picture i used isnt the best admittedly but due to the times i can get there, its always gonna have the sun comjng from that side but its at the same but the website uses at its picture

Basically rhe ai rejected it, but rhen the appeal staff rejected it for natural feature, natural feature is not a rejection criteria anymore

Somewhere, I would point out that The Whangie has a car park located here:

I would also point out that it has reviews on TripAdvisor

It has an entry on AllTrails.

You’ve used the Glasgow with Kids page, I kinda like this one for listing all things I’ve just said above and giving photos:

Description:
Named The Whangee after the old Scots word for slice, this slice of rocks is a must-see formation for hill walkers. After about 90 minutes walking from the car park, you will be treated to some of the most amazing vistas around Loch Lomond.

Supplemental:
This is a great place to explore. Though this is a natural feature, it is distinct. Being called “The” Whangee means there is only one place like this in the whole country. Also having a dedicated car park means that people drive explicitly to visit this formation and see the views from here. It is an attraction for both visitors and locals to enjoy. There are pins on Google maps for both The Whangee and the car park. Satellite imagery over The Whangee is not super clear, but you can see that there is a large rock formation here. See this link for more details: Walks near Loch Lomond - walk to the Whangie | Loch Lomond Waterfront

You can edit that however you want. You can also include any details about the folklore that you want. That part doesn’t appeal to me, so I wouldn’t write it in my own nomination.

So, there is technically a car park, but its axtually for queens view stone, it just also happens tk be the start of the trail for the whangie lol amd its about … 40 - 5o mjnutes for me to get to it (which isnt saying much as im unfit, mid 30s with bad knees lol)

Again, you will want to start a new thread about this. If you feel that the appeals decision is wrong, staff will like to know, but it’s best not to keep it hidden somewhat in another thread.

It would be a good idea to install an information board explaining this location.
Contact the local government where this location is located and ask, “This terrain is a geologically remarkable place. I would like to install an information board to teach many people about it. Would that be acceptable?”
Most local governments will not object to such a donation.

Then, contact a local ironworks to have them bend and paint the iron pipes and write the text on the iron plates.
All you have to think about is how to explain this place.

The local cluncil does tebd to put things in, but they dont do anything for hillier areas, at most a direction sign.

For the blairskaith one, they did actually put in a trail marker with a qr code telling abiht the olace … but by the time i went to submit it it had gone and the email tk have it replaced doesnt exist anymore

Definitely agree that natural features like this would make great PoIs! For people visiting this kind of rural area, exploring rock formations would definitely be of interest.

This natural features discussion has its own topic now if anyone wants to discuss there:

I have moved relevant comments from the other topic to this one.
