To be clear, I don’t mean photos with slightly different lighting, different cropping, or different angles (although there probably is an eventual limit where that becomes problematic) -
For photos, my example is people who submit the same exact photo multiple times or pull photos from 3rd party sources to meet challenge goals.
I did accidentally submit duplicate photos a couple of times due to my not being organized. Mistakes happen. But I didn’t submit the same photo a dozen times. That would be spam.
fwiw, both accidental duplicates went to in house review, and one has been rejected already.
I think I replied too quickly and already answered what you edited in and I love the new photo you added
And agreed… I don’t have it in me at this time to be forcing edits that aren’t in my heart right now - and generally speaking I love adding information.
Thanks! The colours are much brighter, despite it being avery dull day -I think the original was also taken during winter on a dull day but phone cameras are just so much better now
Now I just need some others to upvote it to replace the old one (if they also agree that the new one is better)
@cyndiepooh yeah I use existing images sometimes, I can imagine its hard to keep track
A lot of my older Wayspot submissions could use better photos, but unfortunately it’s a rainy weekend. My camera phone back then just didn’t do a good job and it was a dreery fall (much like today, anyways). It’s so hard to get everything just right.
I submitted a description edit for a park, but used the wrong name, Ridgedale instead of Ridgewood. I immediately withdrew it, and resubmitted with the correct name.
As fo photos, 1 I submitted yesterday doesn’t look all that different than the main photo. However, mine was at a little different of an angle and cropped out more of the front of the building (it was for a small mural at the front between 2 windows).
Neither of these I think are considered spam, especially when I submitted in good faith. I don’t even fully submit my daily limit, as location edits are hard to find. I actually don’t care all that much for the individual rewards compared to the community ones.
Wayfarer wise, I think we know what can be considered abusive, but what’s considered spam is undefined. It could also just be a bad use for talking about abuse, so Niantic could clear it up some.
So regarding spam edits, if we come across someone clearly spam editing(walking around the poi taking pictures from different angels and a using the same images multiple times) How would we report this since I dont have an exact location and the photo report options for photos dont really indicate well what would be a best use in this situation
You don’t need to know exactly who is doing this, but if you know any of the Wayspots and their locations, you can use the report abuse link at the top of the forums. I’ve used the report abuse form without knowing who was committing the abuse, but I had the info on the Wayspot.
It would be best, if you get these in review, to take some screenshots to provide. Also, photo reviews do have maps, albeit not interactive maps, but I’ve been able to use the info from them to locate the Wayspot both on Google Maps and then Lightship.
