It is a gym or portal that is being generated based on a contract between Niantic and sponsor Softbank. First I don’t understand why you want to edit the location of that gym. Is the location incorrect? If so, why don’t you tell us that through the help in the Pokémon GO app or the link below. Or you can tell that Softbank store directly that the location is incorrect.
Yes, SoftBank does have sponsored stops/gyms in PoGo, and these cannot be edited in-game. Being that SoftBank is still around as a company, they would most likely have to contact Niantic to have their sponsored stops/gyms updated.
I have heard of others contacting the companies in question about these sponsored stops/gyms to have them updated. We have outdated sponsored stops/gyms that are found from time to time of businesses that are still around, such as Starbucks, but there isn’t an open store in that location anymore, so sometimes the company needs to be contacted so they can inform Niantic.
Maybe you can submit deletion “no longer exist” instead of location move request.
The SoftBank in my town was deleted several months after the shop was closed. I don’t know who triggered the deletion. submitted from player or sponsor.
There are no options for doing any type of edits or removal requests to sponsored stops/gyms. If you try any of these, you will find they have been deactivated, and are unable to submit any of these requests. You also typically will receive a message that you cannot submit changes.
Again, any changes to sponsored stops/gyms are typically done between the sponsor and Niantic. Some sponsors are better than others in communicating changes or requesting removal.
This is a sponsored stop/gym in PoGo, so it wouldn’t be in Ingress, and it’s isn’t on the Lightship map. Most sponsored stops/gyms in PoGo are only in PoGo, so there’s no way to access them in Ingress or on the Lightship map.
Right now, in the US, we have stops and gyms at Walmart stores. None of these stops and gyms are on the Lightship map, nor are they portals in Ingress, as the sponsorship is only for PoGo, not all Niantic games that use the Lightship map.
Below is a Wayspot I got approved last year of a mural at a local Walmart. As you can see, it’s the only Wayspot on Lightship, but there are 2 others stops and a gym there that are sponsored by Walmart throughout the store. I currenty have a Mon in the gym there; store was closed for Thanksgiving, so no one playing PoGo over there right now.
Softbank, a Japanese mobile telecommunications company, is a Niantic sponsor that has been around since Ingress and has been carried over to PokémonGO. Softbank stores are not only gyms or PokéStops in PokémonGO, but are also shown as portals in Ingress. As a side note, in Japan, many of the vending machines installed by beverage maker ItoEn, as well, display Ingres and PokémonGO.
As an aside, I had to inform you that you seemed to be unaware of the sponsorship situation involving Niantic Games in Japan. Softbank rarely shows a difference between the actual store location and the location where the gym, PokéStop, or portal is shown. It does not seem to reflect store closures or relocations.
As indicated by Ambassador @RoIi112 , I should report the discrepancy between store locations and gym locations from the link I originally provided.
And that’s the matter at hand. However, it can be hard to get any edits done on sponsored Wayspots, even removal. There have been several other Wayfarers who have noted having to take measures outside of Niantic to get the edits done.
I don’t need to be informed of something that is readily available to look up online. Sometimes you read things too literally, not “reading between the lines,” as in looking fully at what was said, as sometimes the literal direct info isn’t always going to be helpful. Sometimes there has to be more given.
Maybe go read that thread to know how hard and how long it can take for sponsored Wayspots to be edits and/removed?
