I’m curious as to why this one did not meet criteria for a pathway, but the others listed below that are part of the same historic path system were approved.

Just an fyi, others having been accepted does not mean that this one should be. I am a little fuzzy on how you feel this meets any of the acceptance criteria of a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social. Could you explain a little? I did skim the link.
It’s a short cut for pedestrians to get up to Corey Hill, which is a park at the top. A lot of people, including myself, uses these stairway paths to exercise as well.
Edit to add: due to their historical context, the town of Brookline does walking tours to go through the history of the paths and the Corey Hill.
Okay, so mine is just one opinion, but from the information presented, I can’t say that the appeal decision was clearly wrong. The Note says that you can resubmit with more information. I would get a few more opinions here first, but I would probably try a new submission really emphasizing how this specific path is important. I would put put the information about it being on the walking tour in the description and link to proof of that in the supporting. I think the more you can put in the description about the significance of this path in the description (without copying and pasting from somewhere, of course) the more likely it is to be accepted. (At least wait a full day before resubmitting to see if this extra information gets you a new email with a different decision.

First I agree with @cyndiepooh that the appeal outcome is not unexpected. It can seem intuitive that showing other similar places is a good way to frame an appeal. However wayfarer is all about that submision and what makes this one a good candidate in its own right.
In the U.K. we have an equivalent of public paths/rights of way some of which like this one have been kept although part of a housing scheme. At about 100m long connecting to 2 streets I would not consider this good for exploration. You can’t go anywhere specific and interesting as at either end you just have to follow the road. It is simply a short cut between two residential streets. I’m sure you do actually get exercise going up and down those steps but that is not its purpose.
By contrast Summit Path on the other side does progress across several streets providing a route to the park and lookout point, so that is a stronger case.
I do find the history behind the paths interesting but I’m not convinced that this short path on its own is significant enough.
I absolutely love this insight! I can see where the reviewers were coming from with the rejection. I’m really so appreciate of everyone’s replies. Like I said in an earlier response, it’s not a big deal if this isn’t a valid wayspot in the end, but I wanted others opinions because I thought this could be a good one. I’m always looking for new potential wayspots on my daily walks and exploring.
