Wayfarer Changed the Location of My Nomination and I Got Banned

Hi everyone,

I recently received a 30-day ban from Wayfarer with the reason being “incorrect nomination location.” But I’m 100% sure that I placed the nomination in the correct spot when I submitted it.

Here’s what happened:
After I submitted the nomination, it was reviewed and someone from the Wayfarer team (or during the review process) moved it to a different location. Later on, someone reported it as being in the wrong place — based on the new, incorrect location. Then, it was moved back to the original correct location, which matches what I had submitted at the beginning.

Even though I explained all of this and filed an appeal, the appeal was rejected. They also told me that they won’t provide any further information about the case.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?
If so, could you please share your experience — or if someone from the community or team can DM me to help, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Niantic will have a record of where you originally submitted the Wayspot. Do you still have the email you received when you submitted the nomination? That should have the coordinates you submitted listed after the supporting photo. There have been cases of bounceback if you were just a bit too far to actually submit remotely or stacking of pins all at the same spot if you didn’t back out between nominations and didn’t notice the pin wasn’t moving to where you actually were. Can you confirm your original pin was correct?

The location on Google Maps is incorrect, but the location I submitted was accurate. How can I prove this?

I see why Niantic considered this abuse. Your pin puts this in a different L17 S2 cell than where the current pin (12.697491, 108.05067) is or where Google Maps has a label for it. Did you submit location tagged photos to prove it is where you said it is with your appeal? idk if someone here could take another look if you can get this evidence.

One thing I found is that on the business’s social media, they list their address as 101a Nguyễn khuyến, not 101 Nguyễn khuyến as Google Maps has it listed. 101a is across the street and next to the Cung Đình restaurant. Here’s the billiards Facebook page that has the address listed as 101a:

It does seem that, at times, whoever is running their Facebook page, leaves out the a in 101a, but in their Intro and About info, it’s 101a.

Hopefully staff can take another look at this, especially since I had no issue finding the correct address info for the business on their Facebook page.

Most of the time when i have some kind of this problem, I just go to that address once again and take a environment video, upload to internet and send the link of video into appeal info to wayfarer. They can easy check from it.
