Wayfarer Community Ambassador - Cohort 5

Hello Wayfinders!

Cohort 5 is HERE!!! We are thrilled to officially welcome Cohort 5 of Wayfarer Community Ambassadors to the community! We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to every applicant for your enthusiasm and for your patience during our thorough review of the many applications received. Please join me in giving an enthusiastic welcome to the newest additions to our Wayfarer Community Ambassador crew!

@tomwe

Hey, my name’s TomWE (rhymes with cup of tea) and have been Wayfaring since 2022. Back then I was excited to finally be able to expand the number of Points Of Interest in my town, and once I began I was quickly found by other local explorers on the same mission. Learning from those with experience was a great benefit and I now enjoy paying it forward in places like the Wayfarer Discussion Discord and the Forum.

Becoming an Ambassador in 2026 puts me in a fantastic spot to help with the future of Wayfarer. There is so much potential still to be found on the streets of the United Kingdom and continuing to expand, polish and tidy the map now with the support of the program makes me excited! I can’t wait to meet the others who will be joining me on this journey. Cheers!

@TjoeMi

Hi everyone. I am Tjoe from Indonesia. I have been submitting since I started playing Ingress in 2014. Back then, it was empty around me, but I occasionally submitted here and there to help fill the map. Over the years, I have watched how the map has developed. Even though I don’t play Ingress and Pokémon GO as much as I used to, I’m happy to continue submitting more Wayspots.

I am thrilled to join the Ambassador Program. There was a time when I received a suspension due to the misplacement of a Wayspot submission and an incorrect edit. Funny enough, it led me to the Wayfarer forum. There, I met many fellow Wayfarers, and it was fun to help others.

For many years, Wayfarer has been part of my life, and I plan to keep it that way in the future. I hope I can be useful as an Ambassador and work well with other Wayfarers.

@tangelalandsbry

Hi everyone, I’m TangelaLandsbry, based in the Pacific Northwest (USA). I wanted to become a Wayfarer Ambassador because I’ve really enjoyed helping others in my local community and in the Wayfarer Discussion Discord better understand how Wayfarer works, especially when it comes to strengthening nominations and feeling more confident about reviewing. This felt like a great chance to get more involved.

I’m looking forward to connecting more closely with both the community and the Wayfarer team by sharing feedback, supporting clear communication, and continuing to learn from other Ambassadors and Wayfinders. I’m also excited about opportunities to be involved in Wayfarer at live events.

I’ve been contributing since 2019, with nearly 16,000 reviews, 190+ approved Wayspots, and 300+ approved edits. Lately, I’ve been on a mission of improving Wayspot photos – shout out to my Pokémon GO friends who are very patient (and amused) when I insist on stopping to re-photograph something I think deserves better :slightly_smiling_face:

@frealafgb

I’m based in the south east of England. I started Wayfarer when it became possible to submit from Pokémon Go, which I had played daily since launch in 2016.

My initial motivation to participate in Wayfarer was my frustration that for community days and large events, everyone had to go to the town centre. I felt like we were in people’s way, and it was busy and stressful. My goal was to make our beautiful riverside parks into a brilliant alternative place to play Pokémon Go. My other main issue was the number of times I had to buy pokeballs, particularly on the first ever community day for Pikachu! It didn’t feel sustainable, so making areas that I spent time in more playable was a big motivation for me.

My favourite part of Wayfarer now is the photography aspect. I’m paying more attention to how my photos will look in the photo disc on a stop or gym, and also on a gift, and I’m on a bit of a mission to update some of the older photography with bright sunshine and blue sky pictures taken on a modern phone.

I do not travel a lot, so my list of successful nominations is not as large as that of many Wayfarers, but I think I’ve had a positive impact on my local community. When I do travel, I like to keep an eye out for potential submissions, and I recently added PoIs to 2 airports!

I really enjoy helping people get started on Wayfarer, or think about new possibilities for submissions, and I hope to continue with that going forward in the ambassador role.

@Drexite

Hello! I’m Drexite from the United Kingdom. I started playing Pokémon GO in 2016 and I began contributing to Wayfarer as soon as it was available in Pokémon GO in 2019. Since its release in GO, Wayfarer has ignited a passion to seek out as many wayspots as possible to submit to enrich my local community, as well as learning through reviewing wayspots that other Wayfinders have submitted. After nearly a thousand accepted wayspots plus countless more submitted by local Wayfinders with my guidance, I feel I am ready to share the experience and knowledge I have gained by becoming a Wayfarer Ambassador.

I look forward to collaborating with other ambassadors towards enabling Wayfinders to grow their own communities using Wayfarer in a way that is easy and fun, as well as any questions Wayfinders may have when evaluating a wayspot for submission.

JataraShadow

Hello, Wayfarer community! Allow me to introduce myself. I am JataraShadow and I am from the state of Arkansas in the United States. I am a proud Pokémon Go Trainer who has been active and playing since 2016. I became enthralled with Wayfaring as soon as I was able to start submitting Waystops (at level 37 or 38 back then when the level cap was 40) since 2019.

I have a passion for Wayfaring and constantly encourage others to submit stops. It truly is a wonderful way to give back to the player community and help to improve gameplay and quality of life for everyone. To be chosen for the Wayfarer Ambassador Program is an honor and gives me the opportunity to give back even more!

I enjoy the research and excitement of new Waystops! I am eager to bring my voice and skill set and having the chance to work with other Wayfarers in promoting and improving the Wayfarer experience for everyone across the various gaming platforms that use it." I look forward to hearing from you soon!

As you can see, we have officially welcomed six new Wayfarer Community Ambassadors! You might be wondering about the rest of the cohort and we have some exciting news. We are currently reimagining the Wayfarer Community Ambassador program that will make it bigger and better! As we celebrate our fifth year, we hope to create more space for growth and develop new ways to amplify our community’s voice.

Join the discussion here and give them a warm welcome!
