A waypoint that I created a while back just got taken away. It’s missing in multiple Niantic games but I am unable to figure out why. When I looked at my submission history, it still shows it as approved and I never received any notification about its removal. Is there any way to find out what happened and to reverse it?

If a Wayspot is removed, the submitter won’t get any kind of notice about it, unless Niantic feels the nomination was abusive. If you would like to show us the nomination, we can try to guess why it was removed, and give our advise as fellow explorers as to whether you should appeal for reinstatement. Remember that this is a public server if you are concerned about revealing your location.

Regardless, the only way that I would be able to appeal the deletion is to resubmit the request?
I would not recommend resubmitting, because if there is a valid reason for the removal, it could lead up to a penalty against you in the worst case.
I would recommend appealing the deletion by making another forum post. You can also post the example in question (or get DM by an ambassador) for suggestions as Niantic usually won’t tell the removal reason either.

No. Wayspot Appeals is how you appeal the deletion. I would not resubmit unless you understand why it was removed, because resubmitting a removed Wayspot could be seen as abusive at worst, and a waste of a nomination at best if it is not going to be allowed in game. There could be a scenario where you could resubmit a reworked nomination depending on why it was removed, but I am struggling to think of an example.

How do you appeal a POI removal? I have a disgruntled ingress agent removing legitimate portals out of spite.
Go to Wayspot Appeals and present your case that the Wayspot should be returned. Do not bring accusations of gameplay there. It does not help your case. Just present the evidence that it still exists and is eligible.
If the property owner requests the removal, Niantic will do that for them. They will have had proof of the person’s credentials who made the request.
Abusive players can be reported either to help chat Niantic Wayfarer or the Reporting Abuse form linked at the top here. If the format you are viewing does not show those links, here it is: Reporting Abuse in Wayfarer — Wayfarer Help Center
You will also want to show evidence of this abuse. I personally would not make a report unless I had evidence.

Thank you for the help and advice.So, to appeal, I just need to create a new topic under Wayspot Appeals. I’ll give it a go and leave the game play politics out of it. I wasn’t sure if there was a specific form. Thanks again
