Wayspot removal notification?

I noticed some wayspots got removed today. Does the one who got the wayspot approved get an email or do the stops just disappear?

Best case scenario is there is no notification to the submitter. If they think the submitter has committed abuse, they will send an email with a warning, or worse. The warning will not notify about all the stops which were removed, to the best of my knowledge.

Weird. But thanks.

We don’t recommend resubmitting stops that have been removed btw. There would have been a reason for the removal. If you feel they have been removed in error, you can request that they be restored in Wayspot Appeals

If the removal was by property owner request, Niantic will not restore it. If there was a misunderstanding that prompted the removal, they occasionally will restore them, but they tend to be very certain that the Wayspots they remove are ineligible before they remove one.

If you believe its incorrectly removed , you can appeal what was removed

I’ve had wayspots removed (evidence suggests this is because they were approved by eMiLy) and then someone else submitted the same POIs and they have been in the games ever since without issue.

Whether it’s safe to resubmit depends entirely on why the wayspot was removed. Not all removals are legitimate or justified. As @TjoeMi said - submit an restoration appeal.

If a Wayspot was removed for third party photo, face in the photo, abusive text - yes the submitter would receive an email with a “strike” or ban for it.

If a Wayspot was removed because it is currently not there, or not safe - they do not research whether conditions changed (it used to be there, and safe - but the road was widened, statue removed, school built, or something).

So if the Wayspot makes it thru the above without being flagged as abuse, Niantic still can’t be SURE it’s not abuse. Sending an email saying your Wayspot has been removed - could trigger abusers to go out and submit it again. So: if you don’t get an email, take it as good news that they understand that it wasn’t abusive.

Thanks. I went to check today after the artist who created the works told me they were damaged. Indeed they are. So this fits your description of “used to be there”. The artist will repair. So i guess, we’ll just wait for that to have happened before “taking this matter further”.
