Regarding the OP’s nomination, I wouldn’t consider it the same as the Statue of Liberty scenario.
you park/dock… get off walk around and explore… I see no difference
In the case of the OP’s post, a person who doesn’t have a car that they can “Park/Dock” on the island parking bay may not be safely be able to cross to the island on the other side of the road. Ellis Island / Statue of Liberty, there are multiple ways to get to the island safely for pedestrians and able to walk up to the statue without the potential issues of car drivers getting in the way.
Maybe a person without a car can hire an Uber/Lyft/Taxi. Theres many options available just like an Island.
I doubt that a person would take a hired ride just to go from one side of the road to the island… but if that floats peoples boat, fair play. But it’s unlikely.
General comment:
Let’s chill no need for forum ping pong.
It doesn’t make for great reading to see the same sort of points pinging back and forth.
Try to make new and different points.
Its called a discussion, its been very civil if you ask me, right @P1dg3ySlayer ?
If I got any more chill, I’d be called an Ice Cube.
The street view doesn’t do justice indeed. It was left without city care during the winter and is now a bit better. As said the Whole crossing is a pedestrian area. For information 200m from the location, there is 2 school and a nursing home. The whole area is speed limited and dedicated to kids to play on the road with school signs and such. BUT I get the reason why its considered as not safe and without marking but it was never plan to have marking because it’s a dedicated place with indeed no signage but as of commune ( city council ) decision the whole access is pedestrian.
I do understand that Niantic has to go by general standard and sometimes not being in line with city specific regulations. Thank you all for your feedback.
Can I Resubmit the whole entry ( it took top a year to have it processed …) with better details and descriptions? Is it worth it ?
I would give it a shot with a better picture, and a solid description, and supporting information that mentions that it’s a popular gathering area with a few benches to sit and socialize. Mention the parking makes it accessible as well.
Niantic’s own clarification says that areas used as parks and gathering areas don’t need signs. Try and focus as much of the main photo on the benches, and that area as possible.
Thanks
