Please review this removal appeal for the Wayspot “Prudential Logo” located at 51 Scotts Road (1.312892,103.837407).
After some research on the wayspot, being the Prudential Logo, I found that: The commercial tenant has officially closed this branch, removed operations, and fully vacated the premises following the conclusion of their 15-year state land tenancy. The physical property has been entirely reclaimed by the Singapore Government (SLA/URA) for upcoming residential redevelopment studies.
So essentially, with this new masterplan that Singapore has put out, the building is non-functional, non-accessible and it is going to be demolished soon
I quote: “Situated by an empty field above Newton MRT station, the office building is on a tenancy that ends on April 30, 2025. It will be returned to the state thereafter.”

The main point is: Because the building’s perimeter gates are permanently locked to the public, the location is completely vacant and lacks safe access. Essentially, this location no longer exists as a functional real-world landmark. Hence it is currently not an explorable real world location.
The wayspot appears to be for the Prudential Logo, not the business itself. If the logo is still there, then the wayspot cannot be removed on the basis of it no longer existing, because it still exists.
If the location is locked to the public but not dangerous and still accessible to people who are allowed to be there, it cannot be removed on the basis of unsafe access, because it still has sae access - just not to the general public.
I cannot see a legitimate reason for this Gym to be removed.
Hmm, sure there might be a distinction between the business and the logo
It’s safe to assume that the logo’s significance came from identifying an active Prudential office. But now that the office has permanently closed, the tenancy has ended, and the property has been returned to the Government for redevelopment. The building is now vacant and no longer functions as a destination.
Sure the logo exists, but it is now defunct commercial signage on a decommissioned building.
Wayfarer exists to encourage exploration of meaningful real-world places, and an abandoned site awaiting redevelopment no longer fulfils that purpose in my view…
Also to be clear, I don’t think anyone has access to the building, cuz employess have moved out.
It’s a subtle point, but if the logo is still there and the wayspot is for the logo not the business…
The area is accessible to any grounds staff - it won’t have been abandoned by everyone. An area like this will still have access to people who have authority to be there.
Removal criteria is more restrictive then submission criteria.
This isn’t published by Scopely Explore, but from my understanding, to be removed, a wayspot needs to meet any of the following (there may be other things that I have missed)
- The POI does not exist
- The POI is on school grounds or single-family private residential property, including the external boundary
- the POI is strictly and obviously not eligible (e.g., a generic direction sign)
- the POI is not safely accessible (not to everyone, but to people allowed to be there)
- the POI is obstructing operations of emergency services
Thanks for the responses so far btw, really appreciate it. Should I just leave it up to the staff themselves to decide? Either way my point still stands that it’s a dysfunctional location.
For instance demolition could start and pose a hazard to players
If demolition begins and it becomes a construction site you can contact with proof and the prudential sign and I presume the tentacles among fish pokestop which seems to occupy the same level 17 cell can both be removed.
Meantime simply wait until for a staff response.
