I’m entirely sure. The only thing I am allowing the possibility for with “I think” is that maybe welders etc are found in plazas where you are based.
I’m really sorry, but for example, why is a cross always approved as a wayspot? How will one socialize, exercise or explore the area with a cross there? In my nomination there is a sign to find out/explore what businesses are in the area. And where in the guidelines does it say that: “Sign with information about businesses in the area cannot be a wayspot?”
In my case, I would say a cross meet exploration criteria, like is not normal (at least in my area) to see crosses in the street.
In your case, if you consider that those businesses are interesting and meet any of the three acceptance criteria, then I would encourage you to nominate them instead of the sign, that from my point of view doesn’t meet any criteria.
As it was said, this is just our opinions
I think this is an artifact of how Wayfarer was originally imagined.
Things that pertain to religion, culture, or learning (but not children’s school) are valued for ‘exploration’ which could be a voyage in your own mind.
Wayfarer does not recognize that a gregarious metal-worker could really enjoy visiting a place that does welding.
It barely recognizes that one could visit a river-walk at a park that didn’t have a welcome sign, and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and feelings.
Wayfarer is a bit skewed, this way. Sometimes the solution is to find a work of art on display at the pub, or the start of a walking trail, and just rework, refine and resubmit until you reach a satisfactory conclusion.
In my area one can find a cross or something related to religion at least every 500-1000 meters, it’s Bavaria. Here crosses, churches or painted saints on the wall are absolutly common. Nevertheless, a Wayspot on religion basis is always accepted. I wanted to have Wayspot auf business basis and failed. Because reviewers think that business is not worth a Wayspot, why??? I have already nominated those businesses from the sign and “surprise” they were all not accepted, including restaurant, after appeal not accepted by Niantic either But in my opinion one come to a church or a cross to pray, not to spin a disk or fight in a RAID. This is definitely no place to socialise, exercise or explore. This is not OK.
@eneeoh With all due respect, gaming and religion must be kept separate. If one stays on the steps of the church and fights in the raid, it hurts the feelings of the believers. And if one goes to a cross to turn a disk, it has nothing to do with exploring, but only with the items one get. the sign i nominated doesn’t hurt any feelings and allows people to get to know local businesses. I think this sign is a much better wayspot than a cross.
You are preaching to the choir! (I think we are probably in agreement, here.)
Yet churches appear near the top of the ‘Explore’ list, and shops often must be presented in a very special light to persuade reviewers that they are unique or unusual.
This is sad but true and Niantic should change this.
@NianticTintino, @Niantic
This question is for Niantic only.
Why are crosses and religious objects that have nothing to do with socializing, exploring and exercising, but rather with faith and praying, always accepted by Niantic as eligible wayspots, but my nomination with businesses is not? There is no statement in the guidelines that proves my nomination is not eligible. The community says it is ineligible, but cannot back this up with statements from the guidelines. The guidelines say that ineligible are “A generic business, chain, or franchise that is not locally unique” - this does not match, while all businesses from the sign are locally unique (because of Oppersdorf is a very small village), furthermore guidelines say “Generally speaking, local businesses that are considered long-standing watering holes, favorite hyper-local hangouts, or even more regionally recognized as a cultural hotspot, fall under the eligibility criteria of Explore and can be submitted for consideration and review. For submitters, since this is a subjective judgement call the reviewers must make, do utilize the supporting text and images to strengthen your case. For reviewers, keep in mind that even a generic business in a small town can be an important part of the local community.”. As I wrote before, my sign can be used to explore what unique and local businesses are in the area and that meet the exploration criteria. Whether someone is interested in local businesses is very individual and cannot be used as a reason for rejection, because for me it is interesting, for the other person it is not, for the third person it is interesting again and so on.
Please provide the valid reason from the guidelines that confirms that my nomination does not meet the criteria, otherwise I will assume my nomination will be accepted by Niantic and a Wayspot appears in the game.
Thanks a lot
