The team is hard at work on it right now. We expect it a few weeks from now.
That’s great to hear! Looking forward to it
Just installed the app on my Android S20 phone… wanted to see what the fuss was about. I haven’t had the desire to throw my phone against a brick wall in a long time.
You could scan that wall and then throw virtual ducks at it.
It has been two weeks. How is the Android update coming?
I just tried Scaniverse for the first time yesterday. The scan is beautiful (iPhone 16 Pro Max) but I don’t see how to “connect” it to the actual portal. It shows up in the Scaniverse app map, but only with the address, not with the portal name. Do I just keep doing more scans and uploads? How do I know that this is actually accomplishing something for Ingress?
What are you expecting to accomplish for Ingress? That might help answer your question.
Perhaps rereading some key parts of the original post would clear things up for you:
So, maybe tomorrow Niantic will finish exploring how to splat Ingress and start to leverage your efforts to deliver a new experience.
I’ve read the original post, multiple times (but thank you for condescending). It says that Scaniverse for iOS is working now, but nothing (either in-app or in the post) clarifies how you get a new splat to “attach” itself to an existing portal in order to count as a scan for the purpose of enabling overclocking. I submitted a splat yesterday, and over 12 hours later the portal still showed no scans. Before I put more time into scanning with Scaniverse (which does seem to create much nicer scans than scanning w/ Ingress or PoGo), I’d like to know that the scans are actually going to count towards enabling overclocking.
You’re welcome!
Notably, the original post says nothing about overclocking. That’s why I asked what you expect to accomplish, since Niantic has given no indication that splats will help with enabling overclocking in the short term, and their phrasing suggests that it isn’t likely to affect existing experiences in any way, only new ones.
I’m sure that Niantic staff will come by shortly to correct the record if you can splat your way into an overclock, so long as I unequivocally state that splats do not enable overclocking.
Hey there! Welcome to the forum! I’ve played around with Scaniverse a lot lately. Maybe I can help you. So - Scaniverse while it’s a Niantic product/property it’s not necessarily tied to any specific game. Meaning when you do a scan there is not a (currently) way to attach it to a portal, POI or Pokestop/Gym.
I hope this help you. If you want it to show up in Ingress, you’ll need to use that game to do the scan.
If you have any other questions, let me know and I’ll do what I can to help you out. Also check this out. Scaniverse has a community forum page as well -
I would still prefer Power Spots, thanks
It’s safe to say that Scaniverse has had a mixed reaction from Wayfarers, even with the current contest.
Like most things it has its pros and cons.
Previously I had started doing photospheres not just to support submissions and in many ways this follows on from that.
It is fun submitting places that are free from scrutiny of accept/reject and only have some basic rules to follow - PRP, schools etc.
I’m viewing it as a challenge to learn something new, make mistakes and find out how I can do better splats.
The processing time is a pain. A big pain.
It’s an extra I can do if I feel like it.
Not sure if I will do so much as Winter takes hold.
