30-day suspension for a genuine waypoint with a slightly off pin

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I submitted a waypoint for a real community rest area, a table and stools set up in my neighborhood that people actually use. I was jogging at the time and submitted it on the go, and honestly, I didn’t double-check the pin placement carefully before hitting submit. It was a genuine mistake, not an attempt to fake a location or game the system.

The waypoint got rejected, and I submitted an appeal since I believed the POI itself was legitimate. Instead, I received a notice that my account was suspended for 30 days for “misplacement of waypoint submissions.”
I get that accurate pins matter and I’m not disputing that. What I’m struggling with is the gap between the mistake (a real POI with an off pin) and the consequence (a full month locked out). It feels like the same penalty you’d get for submitting something fake or duplicated, when this was neither.

I really appreciate anyone who can share advice or point me in the right direction. I genuinely want to keep playing and contributing to the community.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you already submitted an appeal through the “contact us” link in the email?

Often staff will begin a DM in cases like this to chat privately. They are clearly identified by their user names here.

If you would like regular forum members to offer our opinions, it would be helpful to see the gps coordinates where you submitted this. They can be found after the photos in the submission email, if you still have that.

Hi cyndiepooh,

This is the submission info from the email. It was my mistake. I didn’t pay close enough attention to where the pin landed when I submitted it. There was no bad intention behind it at all. I just spotted something that looked like a legit waypoint, and submitted it right then and there without double checking the location. Appreciate if you are able to advise on this. Thank you very much.

That is a very large discrepancy. I hope that staff will begin a DM with you.

Hi @kewk37 ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

I have shared the relevant details in DM. Please check.

Regards,

Yes my mistake as I didn’t pay enough attention on the location pinned. I was on my cellular data when I’m submitting the waypoint and I genuinely thought the location pinned was my actual location without double checking it. After the submission, I continued my jogging journey.

You don’t need to post here anymore, you can talk directly to staff in that DM - you should see an envelope by your avatar in the upper right corner. This is what it looks like when I have one

Got it. I received the DM. Currently waiting for the reply. Thanks for the guidance.
