I am submitting this appeal regarding the action taken on my Niantic Wayfarer account, which has also resulted in a 30-day suspension of my Pokémon GO account during a major in-game event. This penalty has had a serious and unfair impact on my gameplay and participation.
The edit that led to this action was made on a Wayspot that was already accepted and live in the game. I did not change or submit any title, description, or name. I only corrected the location pin, because it was placed incorrectly and was not in a private or restricted area. My intention was only to improve map accuracy and player safety.
Some reviewers have incorrectly and randomly reported this edit as “abuse of a person’s name or a word.” This accusation is completely false. I did not include any personal names, offensive words, or misleading information. The edit was a simple and legitimate location correction, which is allowed under Wayfarer guidelines.
Because of these false reports, my Wayfarer account was flagged and this caused my Pokémon GO account to receive a 30-day ban, even though I did nothing wrong. This happened during a major event, meaning I lost access to gameplay, bonuses, raids, and event-exclusive content that cannot be recovered.
I have always followed Niantic’s rules and have contributed honestly to improving Wayspots. I strongly believe this was a mistake caused by false or careless reporting, not by any real violation.
I respectfully request a full review of this case and the removal of all penalties placed on my Wayfarer and Pokémon GO accounts.
The text in the string about abuse is misleading, because it can refer to any abuse. Usually we see third party photos or pins that are away from the point of interest. You should have had a separate email that told you specifically what the abuse detected was.
So, the case is I ask for the help of wayfarer to fix the way point and gave live location link as well as map, and they told me they have done the correction and immediately next day my 2025, December nominations was invote and 2 days later it got rejected and I again appealed…and the another day it again got rejected and reason was abuse of some person or some place.
Just today the pokestop shifted to the correct place as I linked the live map to the help message.
Don’t know why I’m flagged as I’m the one helping them to figure out the correct location or to make a safe place for pokemon players.
That sounds like the location edit was separate from other nominations you have made and those were flagged? What does it say in the email you received about your suspension?
there is no email about the suspension and as ban appealed only automated response was given, previously they used to give a whole list of response as i used a person name for nominating the stadium as it is called dasrath stadium( in english) we call dasarth rangasala( in nepali) so the reason was clear but now no proper response. the suspension always happens on the huge events. So, when i wanted to correct the location it give us certain square parts that we can move the pin and now today the correction is made and it’s away from the square part, so how is it my fault as game doesn’t allow me to move far from the square boundaries.
I’m glad i got an reply but the reasoning is not good enough as I’m the one who helped wayfarer to edit the poke stop or way point to the correct place… Please do consider my request.
No, they asked me for geo tagged location and they crossed the boundaries of the location edit and just today they placed the poke stop in correct location as i helped them…but yesterday i was suspended as i can not cross the boundaries of the location edit and they consider it as an abuse.
should i share our conversation trying to explain what happen who is wrong and the 2 meter boundaries as i edited and wayfarer can go beyond the boundaries and edit the location. and i am the one who helped wayfarer personally.
I’m NOT misleading the information you are not trying to grab the message and just banned me in pokemon go… and can’t do anything about it. Just to let you know i helped wayfarer to go beyond the boundaries and they edited the poke stop in game and called me abuser.
Aaron will have provided you with the details of which contribution had the issue and what the issue was. If it’s related to submitting a malicious location edit, then when you submitted that location edit, you should’ve received an email that shows the existing coordinates of the wayspot that you attempted to edit, and the coordinates you suggested for the new location.
You are under no obligation to share these details with the community if you do not wish to do so of course, but if you are willing to provide a screenshot from that email that shows the coordinates, maybe we can help you better understand why you’ve received the punishment that you’ve had.
i explained him already about the misleading information that he always says, that i edited in wrong area but their is certain limit to what we can extend the pin as 2 meter distance that the green dot represent that i pined in 2025 December , but after the 3 months of no in vote, i personally message in wayfarer help and screen shot the same thing that i have edited and when they asked geo tagged link or photo, I provided live location link with map showing the stop. And after they made their clear decision my 3 months back nominate got public and rejected and i again appeal for quick response and they flagged me abuse. and just today the poke stop shifted to yellow dot, which can not be performed in a game, i can not move the pin far from 2 meter.
In game if you try to move the location pin their is certain limit where you can locate the way spot and it’s 2 meter the square distance the s cell what the game calls them. and now the poke stop is transfer to another cell.
Okay. In game, the edit distance limit is 10m. Cells are not mentioned in game. Moving a Wayspot must be a physical correction to the actual location. If the correction is too far to be done in game, it can be done through help chat. Just moving it closer is not allowed. And moving it into a new S2 cell that allows it to appear in Pokemon Go is seen as abuse unless it absolutely is a correction.
