I honestly don’t remember whether those two things happened, but given what I was doing in Leeds, I can say that there is definitely a possibility that they might’ve happened.
I was there to accompany my mum to a medical appointment, and we happened to be changing from one bus to a different bus when I spotted the mural. The bus we got onto after I took the pictures does go through part of the city centre where my signal tends to drop out, so if I did attempt to submit the nomination whilst I was on that bus, then it is possible that it might’ve failed and needed to be reattempted, but as I said, I don’t remember for sure if I did that or if I waited to do it.
I’ll add this one that just came in.
Worth noting that the Supporting Photo isn’t included and is just the 
in emails and doesn’t show a Supporting Photo on Contributions, not sure about in review.

I received it too. I was very surprised since it was sent all the way from Hokkaido, over 1000km away, but I remembered immediately. I found it the day after attending GoFest in August 2022, sent it after returning home, and only this submission was lost due to an error. The email I received today only contains one image. This was sent as supplementary information, but it has become the main image.
You should set your nominations “on hold” or withdraw them until a solution is found, safety first

I don’t know whether slots were used up either. I recall attempting three of the four and that the app never got all the way through the submission process likely due to bad signal. Only one I was unable to resub at a later date. Going back there today though! Haha.

Also probably as a result of this, reviewing quality is a lot more worse than usual. I am doing some reviewing right now and feel like it is as AI is being turned off again.
There are a lot of duplicate, bad description or bad title already. If you are doing reviewing, be extra careful and check for duplicate a lot more.

Also hopefully we should get an update to either if it is possible to post new submission or not to post until further notice. I was going to post 15 new submissions but now I am waiting for the bug update.
The second one that just uploaded itself is one that failed to upload first time around. I remember this one as having disappeared, but since I use Upload Later and was no longer there, I couldn’t do much about it. Contribution count was updated when I initially used Upload Later and hasn’t been affected now.

From 2022 to 2024, posts with swapped supplementary and main images have been continuously uploaded. Did you do something?
The emails won’t stop. What are you planning to do?
Several cases have already started review. If penalties are imposed for this, what will happen?

Just had an email that a pokestop had been rejected. Logged in and found it rejected as a duplicate. Again it was submitted in 2023 and accepted. Something seems to be going weird or old stuck submissions seem to be resending themselves.

This is terrible. I never received the confirmation email, yet this submission has already been added to the contribution page. I distinctly remember this submission failing once before.

We have removed these impacted nominations from the queue to mitigate this issue. You should be able to notice this change now. There may be a few spill overs but they would be insignificant.
We will keep you all updated. Unfortunately, due to the holiday season, there is very little that we can do immediately.
This should not happen this moment onwards. However, please ping here and tag me if it happens. We do not want these nominations to impact your accounts.

Just noticed a couple of these strange duplicates have appeared for me as well, 1 waypoint nomination & one photo. The waypoint one is a duplicate of an already accepted nomination, has main photo but missing support one, and old placeholder text in description & supporting. I’m guessing it was probably a failed upload since I sometimes just type placeholder text to edit later. Unfortunately it already went into niantic review. The photo one doesn’t show anything, resulting in this amusing blank submission:
One of my nominations that I submitted 2 months ago made it in now.
Never got a confirmation Email for that one, and now 2 months later it is finally here.
I see that it was immediately picked up for internal review by the wayfarer team.
Quite strange that it so suddenly happened.

I have so far two of these. Both bugged when I tried to upload them years ago (via Ingress). I never got a confirmation email nor did those bugged submissions ever end up in Wayfarer.
Both of these nominations that now turned up lack either of the photos: either the main photo (in which case the supporting image was in place of the main photo) and in the second case the supporting photo is missing.
I suspect that we are just experiencing bugged nominations from a few years back being added into the queue.
