This may be completely unrelated, but around 12:00 PM on December 31, 2025 (JST), I attempted to submit a candidate via the Pokémon GO app. However, no matter how many times I tried, I couldn’t send it and it remained stuck. After switching to web submission at 12:30 PM, I was able to send it.
All except for one of my nominations went to Niantic review instead of the voting queue, and they are still there with no chance for me to put them on hold. Some of these previously lost nominations are still very salvagable, since no one else ever submitted them and the pictures are intact. Some are probably not recoverable, since they only have the supporting photo, which is not great for a submission (i.e. has people or doesnt focus the subject). I assume they were taken to Niantic review since the title, description, and supporting info were simply junk filler, since my standard protocol is to almost never fully flesh out a nomination in the field (and instead put on hold ASAP, so I can take my time writing and researching). I obviously never got this for any of these lost nominations, since they only just hit my page a few hours ago while I was asleep.
Can submissions that immediately went to Niantic Review please be pulled again and something be done to put them on hold so we can actually do something with them if they are still viable and contain filler text? At least for me, a lot of the lost nominations are from travels and are hundreds to over 1,000 miles away, and I have no way to easily resubmit some of these.
Now, or after the holidays of course, would be the best time to introduce an “Auto Hold” option in the Wayfarer settings to help prevent this from happening again. I always put my nominations on hold immediately after submitting them anyway. Would love to see that feature in 2026!
Weird question, but one of my nominations: “Beaumaris Map & Information Board” was taken into Niantic voting after being affected by this. I’d love if it could be put into voting, presuming the correct photos are restored. Is this at all possible?
It is unlikely that the correct photos can be restored. The evidence of what I saw in my emails and comments here is that these are submissions that failed to upload properly in the first place, but have now been picked up. However, the initial failure meant that one or more photos were lost completely.
This morning i got an email from Niantic saying “wayspot nomination recieved.” At this time I had not submitted a new wayspot. When i checked the email, it was a wayspot that I nominated a few months ago which was accepted a few days after i nominated it, all that was different was the wayspot picture and the surrounding area picture. Why is this happening and what will it do to the wayspot?

The issue has been identified as the posts by Aaron in here demonstrate. It won’t have an impact on the version that was approved.
There won’t be any negative impact on your account. For now just leave it to one side and watch for updates here.
My reborn nominations disappeared due to game crash back in 2023. I never re-nominated them since I reached the limit.
I love to see them having a second chance, although the system seems messing the support photo and the actual photo of the wayspot.
So a few days weeks ago I made a wayspot, and it got accepted, but the first time i tried submitting it, it did not appear in the system. Today I got the e-mail of a new submission, which was the one that did not enter the system. Is anyone else also getting this issue? I’m just kinda scared I will get a penalty or something for a duped wayspot because it already got into voting phase when I was sleeping.

I logged into my wayfarer today to find 5 previously approved Wayspots that are now in Niantic review? Is this intended behaviour?

From May 20th, 2023 … I can’t find any evidence of this one either.
I just checked my mail, and apparently I have sent a nomination at 7:11 am. By that time I was sleeping. I checked my nominations and it doesn’t show up. I have 40 nominations left. I don’t really know how I got that mail and I didn’t personally send that nomination. If it entered queue, please remove it. Nothing makes sense about it (photo, title, description). Thank you
