A Person turned my mosque Image into Door image #Way-Frustration

Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing well. As some of you guys may know me on Discord that i have been contributing to the wayspots and sharing the progress in general but I also focus on nominating wayspots based on Niantic Criteria I have nominated about 50 wayspots.
One thing that I do most commonly is to take a picture of the mosque and upload it to the wayspots to make wayspots better. A week or 2 before I found one issue with the wayspot of the Mosque where one of the people nominated a wayspot that had a car license plate in it. So I asked Niantic to remove the wayspot picture and they did replace it with my one.
This person uploaded the same picture with a car license plate on it and he used his account and 3 alts to bypass my picture I reported it again and gave them the previous ticket history and hoped that the Wayfarer team take further action but they didn’t instead they removed the picture.
Now this person uploaded the worst picture of the mosque by zooming it into the door thus making a wayspot look worse and it doesn’t fit the mosque category at all and probably the nomination criteria either.

Let me show you the picture

This is how I ended up nominating the mosque.

The Mosques I nominate… I nominate them in full. I don’t split and abuse them like splitting the tower, Generic Door, Bottom half, generic green and white sign. However, if the sign is saperated from the mosque like how it talks about the history of the mosque then yeah it deserves it separate nomination like this.

The main question is how can I get help from the Wayfarer team by blacklisting the photo that doesn’t fit the mosque category? He replaced my mosque photo with the door one. This person has a history of nominating 2 wayspots with car license plate.

your help would be appreciated

Anyone that is eligible for Wayfarer can submit new photos, and others can then vote on which photo they want to be the main one in the games. There’s no way to change the photo other than to ask others to vote for your photo and receive the most votes.

The photo of the mosque front entrance is acceptable, as it’s a place marker for the mosque, and shows the signage for it as well, which are also place markers. I can’t see it being removed by staff, as I don’t see it going against the Photo Guidelines.

How do you get and convince your friend to vote for your picture? I probably do it in campfire. The problem with campfire is that it doesnt send message notification to the player and about 33% of them respond and asking me to send the same gift again so they can vote

That’s something you have to figure out on your own. You could ask other local groups on social media to vote up your photos if Campfire doesn’t work the best for your. Some ask their friends in PoGo to upvote their photos when sending gifts to them. It’s not really something that a global forum can assist with much.

I understand the frustration, as we have many places where the sign is the main photo, but the building itself would make for a nice photo, too. The signage typically has the most votes, and they can’t be removed as they don’t go against the guidelines. Do I wish my photos of the buildings were the main photos for those Wayspots? Yes, but I also understand that they may not be as the other photos do not go against the guidelines.

Thank you. This is very much needed

I understand that you are frustrated by the situation.
However no one is entitled to have their photo as the cover one or to have ones that are of the object removed because of a personal opinion based on artistic judgements.
That is what the community voting is for with the thumbs up.
Everyone has the opportunity to engage in this process. As well as locals using the postcards can engage a wider audience in the decision making.
It is good that you are interested in this but I would advise you to not try and get too concerned about this otherwise you are just going to continue to be frustrated.
If the person is breaking ToS then do report them for that. There is nothing from what you have said to take action on in terms of someone having a different opinion on a photo.

Over time, device camera performance has improved, so it is inherently good to be replaced with better images. However, sometimes images are added and replaced with covers that are not carefully shot by the Wayspot submitter and are frankly poor, with off-center objects or, worse, images that violate our standards. They use multiple accounts and systematically call for votes. I don’t care either, I guess we just have to let them do what they want, but I’ve seen this happen and I’ve been on the receiving end of it. I left my house at 5:00 a.m. and cycled 30 minutes to my destination, and the Wayspot image I took and submitted at sunrise when there were few people around was replaced with a left-leaning image that did not center the subject, or with an image that had many passersby in the background. Frankly, I am beyond offended and even resentful. However, they continue to display their own self-expression without any concern for the feelings of the Wayspot submitter.
I would be very happy if Wayspot could identify the submitter by putting an asterisk or something on the image so that we can recognize them.

Always found it strange that an older image with old votes gets preference than a new up to date image.

Example:
2nd image added 5 years ago, people voted and this is rightly shown.
The look of the building / waypoint changes (such as a pub rebranded to a different chain).
3rd image added but needs to get more votes than 2nd image before displayed.

Not sure of the solution…
1: Sending to review “Which is the better photo” could cause too much work.
2: Votes “deteriorates” so 5 year old photo with 5 votes could be beaten by latest image with 3.

You need to count vote from ingress too. Allthough i am not sure now with separation. Anyway i u ask nicely in social media, i am sure there will be people willing to help vote.

And you could create a route and hope that random strangers from all over the world help to up vote.
Personally I’d prefer a reset (once per saison?).
