Blurred image needs to be removed from a Wayspot

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Yeading Christian Fellowship

  • Location (lat/lon): 51.527228,-0.398003

  • City: London

  • Country: UK

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

Ticket Number: 39004939.

This is the original image for the portal. I have submitted a replacement and has been accepted. The image below is blurred. Is it a show stopper if this isn’t removed? No. Would it improve the quality of the Wayspot if this is removed? Possibly yes.

Have you tried getting some votes for your new image.

Agree that this isn’t the best image but it seems that Niantic work on “If it’s “OK” then it stays in”.

With the quality increases of phone cameras since 2016, the fact that there was a lot more active players for the 1st year and the “Ingress” votes I really think that Photo Votes should expire after a certain length of time..

The problem is that the location isn’t quite local to me. I don’t go past there on a regular basis, so am unable to make contact with anyone who lives or plays in the area to ask them to vote up my image submission.

Whilst the image isn’t devastingly bad, my understanding, whilst may be out of date, is that blurred images should be removed with images that are a significant improvement.

I am not going to lose sleep if the blurred image doesn’t get removed, but it would be nice if it could be.

If people like your image, it will be upvoted naturally over time.

Blurred non legible images should be removed… this one here is pretty legible and still presents the Waypoint well.

Yeah the removal criteria is pretty tight - it’s not blurry enough to be removed although I agree its not great!

You know people can upvote photos from gifts you send? That can be a good way of flipping photos to higher quality ones :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Problem with upvoting based on images is that it requires me to send gifts from that location and also requires the receiver to know about the up-voting. I don’t venture down that way that often, so can’t really do much with it myself.

Yeah, it can be laborious

I am in 2 discord groups that have people who will upvote pictures from gifts and sometimes it takes a few visits to get enough gifts to flip pictures- especially old stops with hidden votes from ingress.

If you wanted to join the wayfarer discussion discord that’s a good start :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: agree you definitely need to tell people they’re supposed to do something with the picture

On this topic, niantic will remove anything that’s obviously edited and alot of old stuff around here has a wierd filter on it aparrently related to Instagram so those are easy to get removed which can help

It looks like there’s only 1 Ingress upvote on the Portal. I’m not sure what the PoGO votes look like. Depending on when the existing vote was applied to Ingress and if there were others removed, it’ll likely (only) take 2 votes in PoGO to switch the primary around.

You made the request - you can certainly wait for staff to make the formal decision.

The general process for changing photos is difficult to work with.

I’m not going to lose sleep if the removal doesn’t happen. The request is the most easiest for me to do without going back and collecting gifts. There is a new image on that portal, which I had submitted. So if the new image became the default image, then fair play. I am happy if the local community to that Wayspot made the decision, if they spot the new image.

Hi, @P1dg3ySlayer! We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that the image does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.

Hi @P1dg3ySlayer, please ignore the previous response. We have taken another look and have taken necessary action on the Wayspot in accordance with our policies.
