I want to say that I get this though. I was very slow to shift from my “this would be a great place to have a Pokestop” attitude when I began submitting, to “this would make a great Wayspot.” Once I finally started to get it, I got a lot more accepts. So many things that I thought would be slam dunks because they were similar to what I had seen in game were rejected. The reason I try to help so much on this forum is that I have experienced that frustration.
I still sometimes don’t get why some of my stuff don’t get through, but I’ve learnt to accept the results.
So, if there’s a sewage drain in a public park, does that suddenly become a good wayspot? Just being located in a public park is meaningless.
Damn. Witdraws the Sewage Drain nominations from all the local parks
Yeah, the one near me is going off for testing right now, and I wouldn’t want to stand near it as I don’t want to lose my hearing, another issue some may have with sirens having Wayspots.
change the word “siren” with many stops. there is a clock tower near me that fits everything you said.
it’s NOT a great place for exercise (on concrete) it’s NOT a great place for exploration. NO ONE gathers are it unless they are fighting in a gym raid.
If you don’t believe that something meets current criteria, then don’t submit it. I have always said that you can’t go by what you see in game for current criteria.
(I like most clock towers, personally, as a landmark destination for exploration. But can’t make a blanket statement for all clock towers.)
once time I got a gift from a “hometown hero” banner in Joliet Illinois. I then went out and nominated a few hometown hero banners on some streetlights in Lansing. (I kinda knew they were temporary)
They were all rejected. Go figure! you never know what mood some people are in. I think that’s what it comes down to. Looking at all the posts, ganging up on me for trying to get a weather horn as a pokestop, is a good indicator of how mean these naysay wayfarers are. not you though ![]()
I am sorry it feels like we are ganging up on you. I thought we were having a thorough discussion about the merits (or not) of the point of interest. I don’t want anyone to feel attacked here on the forum.
A clock tower is a legitimate landmark. Historically like church spires they were the landmarks in a community.
A pole with a siren on top? Do you really stand near it when it’s sounding so you can be amazed as you watch the siren spin?? I can’t say I’ve ever known someone to willingly go near an emergency siren when it was sounding.
Is it (when folks are amazed by the spinning of it when sounding) a place people gather? I’d say probably no more than any other light or power pole.
Perhaps there is a cultural reference I’m not understanding here, but the siren would be a “no” for me.
Now hometown hero banners… maybe not a banner but some sort of signage or something for home town heroes… I’m all for that, especially if they were well written. I love local history, especially in smaller communities where the “heroes” are often unsung.
and they were REJECTED
I get it now; because you’d rather reject nominations then grow the game. no reason to be rude though.
We only reject nominations if we do not believe they are eligible, not because we don’t want to grow the game.
General comment can everyone please remain respectful.
Also, a general reminder that expressing a different and opposing opinion is not being rude. This is a place where discussion about why things are eligible or not should and does happen. This is not a place where you come just to have others blindly agree with you.
When something is factually wrong, we will point that out so all can learn.
Stomps foot No! I’m not going to remain respectful Storms off ![]()
We know you are joking, but please remember that there are cultures represented in this forum (many who don’t speak English as a first language or at all) who do not understand this is a joke.
