where? I have just this
It says Wayfarer Criteria when it’s rejected by ML. Does the email say “our team”? But also, if it isn’t a good place for exercise, exploration, or socializing.
Does that make it a great place for exploration, exercise or being social? If so, you need to elaborate on that when/if you resubmit it
it’s a much better thing to explore than your little bridge.
Does your bridge even have safe access? Edit: People are in your picture too. Plus, I think it was rejected by ML, but you won’t tell us if it says it was rejected by “our team”
bro bridge goes from one park to another. Are you even reading before writing something? How do you think parks are unsafe?
I didn’t say parks are unsafe. I was asking if your bridge has safe access. Cuz you have to be able to walk to it, or else you could get hit by a car trying to get to it just to go to a wayspot.
I’m not sure if you’re asking from personal uncertainty or trying to help the submitter, but…
Bridges are, well, bridges. They connect people & places to each other. Along trails, they provide passage over difficult or unsafe terrain and help people continue safe exploration & exercise. They may act as markers on the trail system and are sometimes scenic viewpoints or places folks meet up and children play under.
In the city, sometimes they offer safe routes for people to cross interstates or busy streets. A lot of US history with the interstate system deals with breaking up neighborhoods and these bridges are sometimes critical in re-connecting these neighborhoods.
It’s certainly not a carte blanche of eligibility, but I certainly usually see these as meeting eligibility. And if it’s a pedestrian bridge, it kind of has pedestrian access by design…
I believe the ML model is just detecting “infrastructure” in this photo and rejecting as nothing distinct. You could try again with a prettier photo, or you could appeal this decision. You get 2 appeals now, each with a 20 day timer.
I am not trying to say this is a sure thing of being accepted on appeal. Be sure to explain why and how this is important as described above whether you appeal or resubmit.
I wouldn’t appeal this one, the photo has people in it. I’d resubmit with a better photo.
I think you need a better photo.
At the moment Emily the machine learning program just sees infrastructure, concrete buildings.
I would stand on the steps possibly and take a photo along the bridge.
I would also try a new photo first, but none of those people are identifiable to me. I was just giving the options.
Aren’t humans in photos ok like in this concrete case? You can’t see faces and they don’t overlap main object
They should be and I think most human reviewers would have been ok with them.
However it didn’t get as far as wayfinder review and was auto rejected.
So for your fresh submission take the chance to get some pictures that show off the bridge more where the bridge is the key feature, and take the opportunity to avoid people if you can.
I try to connect them to a trail, walk etc or historic relevance if I can. Highlight what the bridge as a connection point is great for.
This I was being lazy with as I didn’t think it would be accepted so thought feck it Old Railway Bridge will do as a title.
This is taking the p1ss to call it a bridge but it’s on a trail.
That is what I was saying. Unavoidable humans have always been acceptable, but to be safe and since the photo is not getting past ML anyway, I would take a new photo. The wording around whether people can be in the photo changes depending on which place you read it:
https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/criteria/rejection
Here it says it the way I learned it, that an ineligible photo
includes people, body parts, or live animals as the subject matter
But here Niantic Wayfarer
OH! This has been updated since I last looked. Now it says an ineligible photo:
Includes prominent people, body parts, or live animals
Photos with recognizable faces or license plates
The guidance used to just drop the “as the subject matter” from the first statement some places. Glad you asked the question! I had no idea that had been updated. Now how are we going to get the word out to all the people who “know” from the previous wording to reject people in the photo, but don’t know it has been updated.
I would read prominent as meaning a key part of the photo. So in this case I would not say these are prominent.
But avoid having any if you can.
I agree. I am just flabbergasted/elated this wording has been changed/corrected without any notice. Yay!
Here is a comment I made on the old forum about the confusion around whether people are allowed to be in the photo: Education Emails — Wayfarer
We just need to get the word out to everyone who read the old guidance about the correction.
LOL that wayback machine links back to the old document where it used to read that way
This page now has the wording in the help menu
Try not to get frustrated with the system @loneleon although it is difficult at times.
Wayfarer like Go is just a game with it’s own set of bizarre rules and arcane language. If you can be bothered to navigate and learn them, learn what reviewers are looking for, what Niantic want to see it becomes a lot easier.
Although in fairness I was flabbergasted at @PkmnTrainerJ 's paltry, little bridge being accepted too!
