The original rejection is a bit dumb, but the appeal rejection doesnt make any sense, i submitted the whole green and used the sign as the anchor, like i always do, so to have it rejected for putting it on the holse seems really strange. I did this submission a while ago, and i think the green hadnt been shown kn google maps at the time, but i submitted it standing right in frknt of the sign and checksd to make sure it lined up based on the maps
That is really strange, and seems so wrong! I hope you get this incorrect decision overturned
But I just have 0 hopes with appeals nowadays since they rejected a hotel bar for being a liquor focused location when it has its own childrenâs menu and is the breakfast location for the whole hotel
The whole thing with appeals now makes me think they have an unrealistically high quota to manage and that rejecting is faster than accepting so maybe they reject extras to keep on track?
I take it these is one of those practice greens just for putting.
I kind of like how being a grass area with a hole makes it not meet criteria when thats a complete description of golf.
Hard to say. I think it still considered good place to exercise and socialize.
I mean exercise area doesnt need to have historical or cultural meaning.
So, similar to the person with the Stolpersteine yesterday, Iâm going to remind you (and myself) that anyone from anywhere in the world might happen to review your stuff. Youâve got to explain what seems obvious to you. In this case, I would have explained that this is a practice green located at the beginning of the course. When one googles âputting green,â this is what comes upâŚ
We havenât thought like this in a while, but it never hurts to imagine that we are explaining our submission to someone who has never seen anything like it before.
Im guessing youre meaning like those found at a golf course? This was at a petting farm and its an 18 hole putting green (at least i assume its 18 hole, like i said, submitted it ages ago, so might not go up to 18, i think i remembered seeing flag 14 or something so just assumed lol).
Fair, though when i submitted it in generalmi wasnt expecting it to be rejected for not hej g culturally relevant (although when i recheck my appeal, i said it was also rejected for insensitive location, dunno why that didnt show this time). And then i just assume other places have putting greens, didnt realise it was a specific thing people wouldnt know about
This js what maps shows now, i think when i submitted this it didnt show the greens, i have it in mind that it still showed as trees being there. But the map, imo, shows the putting greens. The blue circle was the sign, i think it starts at rhe circle then moves round to the bottom bit
Sometimes appeals are like that- I submitted a unique local business (a collectible store named Brickify) and Niantic staff told me following the appeal âThe appealed nomination does not meet the criteria to be approved. If this assessment is inaccurate, please resubmit the nomination improvising the title/description and photo providing a proper eligibility information board/marker that confirms it is a historic landmark with information.â
But, like your putting green, it wasnât submitted as a historic landmark. I donât understand how some of the people doing the appeals see a golf course or a local business, but then evaluate the Waypoint as a historic landmark.
I assume itâs a numbers game: those conducting appeals likely have to review a whole lot of them, and theyâre going to have the occasional slip-up. Itâs just weird itâs the same slip-up, confusing both sports fields and collectible stores for historic landmarks.
If you believe itâs eligible- and I canât really evaluate without the full submission- your best bet may be to resubmit it. With that said, Niantic staff occasionally overturns appeals (Iâve had one overturned, so it does happen from time to time), so you never know.
Yeah ive had a few appeals tbat were clearly bad rejections get overturned on here (imo fhey should have a section to have stuff like this looked at), but ive not seen them do this in a while
Yes a proper section for âplease check this appeal decisionâ would be excellent actually because at the moment you feel like the team may not see your post and youre never sure whether to post it again or tag someone or if they did look but decided to uphold the decision
At least something- as someone who has been around since before appeals were a thing, appeals were supposed to be that.
But there should be a way to alert Niantic when an appeal says something that is clearly wrong: to use a personal submission, I submitted a local business and used its official business name, per the content guidelines, which state we should use the official title when know. A staff member suggested resubmitting it with a different title, which goes against the guidelines and is potentially misleading Wayfarers. Regardless of what Niantic staff thought of that particular Waypoint (they must have thought it was ineligible since the rejected it/they must have thought it was eligible since they told me to resubmit), they shouldnât be telling Wayfarers to break content guidelines when submitting potential Wayspots.
The wording on mine when I get something like this is
If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context.
So they didnât tell me to resubmit something ineligible, only if they misunderstood the submission and it should have been eligible.
I donât recall having had them tell me to use a different title. I have had them tell me to submit a sign.
I have been told to resubmit with a sign and resubmit without a sign⌠for the same location. Iâm not sure how to do that!
Forgot to say, this has been overturned and accepted now, only noticed the key yesterday lol. Thanks nia staff
Thanks for updating us
