I submitted a stop recently that was at the end of a street where people frequently walk their dogs and kids play in an empty cul de sac. My neighborhood has 4 stops at the entrance and that’s it. This one would be further in and wasn’t sure why it wouldn’t work.
Ive been in other neighborhood hoods and they have dozens of random stops that are like this. Any advice on how to make it a stop.
I’ll be honest, it’s a receptacle for dog waste. I’m not sure how this fits into any of the criteria.
Welcome to the forum @LazyABB
Wayspot nominations need to be a great place to socialise, a great place to exercise, or a great place to explore. Dog waste stations are not any of these things, and so the nomination was correctly rejected.
A dog park could be eligible, but not something like this.
Some wayspot might be imported or got incorrectly accepted in the past. You shouldnt use them for reference.
You can report those incorrectly accepted wayspot for removal
I just see neighborhoods with fancy road signs as stops, random park benches, even just simple bridges as stops. I dont see how they are any different.
I figured there isn’t much in my neighbors and it is a common walking area if they had to put a sign there. So if I toss a bench there and give it a name it is ok suddenly?
It’s a common place people walk … Why do bridges, benches, tunnels, fancy street signs get added as stops? This is in safe spot people frequently walk and kids play at. There isn’t really anything else in area that is a permanent structure that isn’t part of someone’s house around.
Ignore what is already on the Map, they may be a reason that bench was deemed more than a Park Bench.
Use the main Criteria…
Is it a Great Place to Exercise, Explore or Socialise.
You could answer Yes to any of these for the area the bin is in but not for the bin itself.
“Shall we go for a Picnic by the Dog Poo Bin?” !!!
If you are happy to give the co-ordinates for the area people here may take a look and give you suggestions (assuming there are any appropriate).
Good Luck.
Better advice, problem is it’s a mostly empty cul de sac and houses cannot be built because the creek there. So kids frequently play here since there is little car traffic. Only thing around is a rolling basketball hoop and a small dam in the creek. There used to be a picnic table but it rotted and was removed. I just looked for a permanent sign to use as a reference since that is what I see around other places.
Sounds a lovely place to live but that doesn’t always match with a great place to play Pokemon Go.
The Creek sounds like a likely locations for waypoints. Obviously “Creek” can mean many different things to different people. Massive water course to small drainage ditch.
As it seems like a place to walk is there an official trail through with signs or markers? Does it have a Picnic area with several benches? Any information signs for historic buildings that are no longer there?
No official trail. And it’s a small creek probably from many drains that runs out to a lake like 70 meters out of the neighborhood. There used to be a picnic table there but was removed a few years ago from weathering. I could get another picnic table and put it there.
This is the full view of the cul de sac. Small bamboo forest, a basketball hoop on wheels and a poop clean up sign.
Showing my neighborhood only a few stops near the entrance on the main street in. Doesn’t promote much exploration there.
Footbridges promote exploration by extending walking and biking paths over natural obstacles
Benches promote socialization and exploration, provided they are an anchor to a place that is a great location for exploration such as an lookout, or beside a large body of water.
I’m not sure what this means, but decorative street signs could be eligible if they’re artistic enough. You can’t always judge what’s eligible by what’s already on the map.
A bin for dog waste isn’t a great place to exercise, explore, or be social. In fact it’s something that most people would actively avoid spending any length of time at.
Just because you want stops around you doesn’t mean that things around you have to be eligible.
Is that path in the back an official trail?
This picnic area might be independently eligible,
This is a bit further away from the dog poop sign but this little footbridge might be eligible
If you can get the city or HOA to install one that would be ideal! You could also try the basketball hoop
The neighborhood has these signs at every intersection off their main drive through road in the neighborhood. They have over 20 poke stops at every intersection with a sign like this.
And the dog clean up sign I think promotes exploration possible meetups telling everyone people walk this way for a reason. If it’s the case it’s just a sign that shows basic info that’s like over half of niantecs poke stops. They just happen to be in more populated areas and I have a daughter who I like to keep in the neighborhood.
Only reason I started playing again after 10 years was my daughter got a phone and wanted to play, and having to drive 20-30 minutes away to just play the game is not practical.
I despise these “neighborhood signs” getting through voting. They do not meet criteria in my opinion, and I have asked Niantic to clarify that, but they have refused by remaining silent on the issue. And they refuse to remove them when they do go live.
All these signs do is indicate the price of the homes in the neighborhood. There is one on every street intersection here, too, but they are not all pokestops - yet.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t.
This is a Pokémon GO problem, and not a Wayfarer problem.
I think the most difficult thing for people to come to terms with when they begin using Wayfarer is that Wayfarer is NOT Pokemon Go. The prompt in Pokemon Go tells you that you are submitting a Pokestop, but you are not. You are submitting a Wayspot that could potentially be used as Pokestop if approved, but may not be. The Web Submit form better indicates this.
Instead of thinking about a place where it would be great to have a Pokestop, you need to think about whether it has intrinsic value apart from being a game location. In order to be eligible, something must in itself be a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social. You may walk to the poop supplies station, but it does not encourage exercise. It is just there. You may have a conversation at the poop supplies station, but it does not encourage you to hang out with friends there. You may happen upon the poop supplies station, but it does not encourage you to explore.

I am glad that you have found your way to the forum, and hope we can help you be successful with eligible nominations!
No
I guess agree to disagree. Most of the stops we get are driving around since they most convenient to get and once every couple weeks I take my kids to a park we can play a little. Normally if we desperate on poke balls the soccer field has 30 stops, one for every field and sign which makes a somewhat quick fill, but it’s not a place to hangout and socialize about pokemon since it’s for kids to play soccer, not adults to hang around. Takes like 5 minutes to drive to the back of their park lot.
Agree to disagree with what? I am quoting criteria. There is nothing to disagree with.
That is not criteria. The place is for exercise. It only has to meet one of the three eligibility criteria, and a soccer park does.
