Are swimming pools and separate spa pool considered same POI?

If there’s a big swimming pool and a smaller swimming pool (used as a sauna/jet/spa) - separated by only a few meters away - are they considered same or two POIs? Thanks !!

I don’t see why anyone would consider a pool and a hot tub as the same. Is it because they’re both filled with water?

I guess to some since it’s in the same “area” it’s a duplicate lol. I’ll appeal once an appeal frees up lol

Let us know what they say. I recently submitted some pool areas with hot tub plus swimming pool, and it didn’t even occur to me to try to submit them separately. The fenced pool area seemed like one destination to me.

Sounds like you had a submission denied for the smaller pool? For what it’s worth, you’re always able to re-submit, even if Niantic appeals also denies, so feel free to post more information if you’d like personalized feedback.

There’s an old “objects in a series” clarification floating around and a clarification on multiple sets of playground equipment that may be appropriate here. For what it’s worth, I don’t think I would submit these individually at a hotel or water park but would have no problem approving them if they appear to be distinct attractions or amenities for an area.

A pools is more used for exercise and a hot tub more for socializing. But obviously those are generalizations and “your mileage may vary” as the kids say.

Thanks Gendgi! I have provided some examples of pools and its secondary area “pools” (mostly spas , jacuzzis, saunas) that are common in our city community areas. Single waypoint for the entire thing or acceptable as separate poi ? :+1:t2:

At my local leisure centre, I’ve submitted both the main training/competition pool and the diving pool. Im also intending to submit the “splash pad” area - which is like a wet play area for children

These are all within 1 “room” at the leisure centre but they’re totally different attractions. Diving and swimming are separate sports, where the splash pad is a social space for kids. So to me they are all very distinct PoIs

I’d say the same for a jacuzzi pool (socialising) and a swimming pool (exercise). They have different functions and reasons to visit.

I agree with this logic. If a place has different pools, they must serve a different function. Maybe there’s an adults only pool in a large neighborhood so they can sit and read a book instead of worrying about getting splashed by kids playing.

This is a huuuuuge neighborhood. This is the highest number of pools ive seen in one neighborhood.

The pool by the blue X is titled a “soaking pool.” It appears that theres some kind of physical barrier between it and the main pool so that it is kinda isolated.

The red X is at the big curvy slide.

The aqua X is probably the hot tub, though from satellite im never sure if those are kiddie pools. But in this case, i think the kiddie pool (with a mushroom) is at the green X.

The kiddie pool connects to the main pool, which you could call a lap pool or the family pool at the pink X.

Just to confirm how insanely large this neighborhood is, look at how many tennis courts they have.

Context of the submission matters, but I would generally approve these individually unless somebody could give me a good reason not to.

I enjoy reading the other opinions shared above. Great support.

That’s a community pool!! Looks like a Great Wolf Lodge

It’s just a neighborhood. But it’s why the old understanding of pools never made sense to us in the South. Pools are a major part of life here.
