Hello @igarciajr011981
It would be helpful if you also had a wider angle shot. It’s hard to tell what this is on and where it is. Both of these ideas factor in to determine if something is eligible.
I’m sorry but I only took one photo and the street art is on a light, pole.
I will say I enjoy the simple style of the art.
But it may be difficult to get this approved as it is on a public utility pole in a residential neighborhood. It’s unlikely that this was sponsored by the utility company or the neighborhood.
Do you have any information about the artist? Is this something the neighborhood sponsors?
I can’t tell if this is SFPRP, but if it isn’t, then is it even artistic enough?
You are right if it is on a Single Family Private Residential Property. And that’s something we could possibly tell from a wider shot. And the community could see from the map if it was nominated.
But I try and give both sides as I see them from what’s available.
Given the story behind the pole art, it likely could. I would say no, it’s nothing special, until I read the website below.
However the photo you uploaded is from the website. You need to have your own photo.
Great catch! I had a suspicion that this/these might be legitimate. It was just so clean. The lines on it perfect.
But yes - to submit this you need to use your own photos.
- One focused on the art and a wide shot still showing the nomination.
- Include the link in your supporting information
- Include the name of the artist in your supporting information
- your title should be the name of the art piece
Also, by the way, when you submit a nomination, you’re not submitting a PokéStop nomination, you’re submitting a wayspot nomination.
Each Niantic game has different inclusion rules, and for Pokémon Go there can only be one PokéStop per level 17 s2 cell.
I’ve submitted paintings on lamp posts before, in a park. There was a sailboat, a swan and a fish I think.
It’s definitely a violation of copyright, as there is no way the original creator of this character did it
He died in 2017.
There’s a house I walk by quite often that has an old boat in there backyard,it always gets my attention and makes me smile as it towers over the fence of the private property but while accessible by foot I wouldn’t consider submitting it as a Wayspot,it’s quite weathered these days but I wonder sometimes if it would ever get moved as it maybe very costly to do so.
I imagine that a lot of public art are reproductions of original pieces.
I don’t recall whether they are approved or violations of the copyright holder is an issue for inclusion as a wayspot. (Note: I’m referring to the art on the pole itself, not the fact that the photo was taken from another website and apparently carefully cropped to hide that fact.)
Graffiti shouldnt be allowed for a pokestop as it can be (and should.be) removed.
