I have a question, so I tried to nominate my mural to be a Wayfarer spot, specifically for Pokemon Go and unfortunately it got denied once for being a temporary structure and for being on personal property.
I appealed and said I gave permission but it still got denied.
My question is can I have a place nominated if I’m the sole owner of that place and I give my full permission for it to be a Pokestop or Wayfarer marker?
Because I absolutely do give my full permission and I really want this mural to make it as a Pokestop for a project I’m working on.
Also I plan to make sure this mural is a permanent structure since it’s my mural.
I agree that we could use some additional information about the nomination, such as title/description/supporting info/location to get a better idea of why it was rejected and what can be approved upon. Feel free to post screenshots from Contribution Management of the nomination.
Also, you are nominating Wayspots, not stop/gyms for PoGo. Approved Wayspots get added to the Lightship map, which is used by all Niantic games, and each game have their own density/inclusion rules for game play locations, with the exception of Power Spots. PoGo uses S2 cells, while Ingress uses a 20 meter rule. Lightship is also open to developers of other apps and games. So, there’s no guarantee that even if your Wayspot is approved, it will be added to PoGo as a stop/gym.
Would an animal sanctuary count as a SFPRP?
Because it’s not a farm, we do business here to raise funds for our work in animal rescue.
We also have a library box on the property as well with the sole purpose of getting engagement from the community to spread awareness about our work we do.
So yeah the mural itself was originally created by me for engagement and interaction.
I actually originally had plans to nominate the library box instead but I was worried it wouldn’t have been interesting enough. So I went for the mural.
Yes, but you also note that you have some kind of project with stops/gyms that you want to partake in, and I’m thinking this would be PoGo Routes, so just wanted to make sure you know that it may not be in PoGo if this is the case.
Unfortunately the routes haven’t exactly helped with my project due to there only being one gym and one Pokestop where I’m at.
I have created a route on PoGo once actually.
oh hmm. that could be complicated. does a family live on the grounds of the animal sanctuary?
i would nominate the little free library, and emphasize that it is on the grounds of an animal rescue with links for proof in the supporting statement.
what you are calling a mural doesn’t square up with my idea of a mural, and the subject matter may put some reviewers off. since that has already been rejected for being temporary/not distinct, i would go for the easier nomination.
It’s just me and my mother that operate the sanctuary together (I’m 19 btw).
Where would I put links at, would that be in like the supporting info section that’s not shown? Because I don’t wanna get in trouble for adding links when it tells me not to.
Since my sanctuary is so small, the most I have is a Facebook page and a GreatNonprofits page. I did have a Google Maps location but it was falsely removed for “Suspicious activity”, unfortunately most likely someone that’s reported the page.
A little more additional info is that I did these projects in collaboration with another organization called The Raven Corps, I’m one of their lead directors, so I’m hoping to I can squeeze in some info about them in the nomination as well.
Links can be included in supporting info, and is not against any Wayfarer rules. I include links in my supporting infos often, especially for locally owned businesses. Facebook page links and other social media pages are ones that I’ve included, as have others, so they are allowed. I’ve even included links to news articles for new murals, parks, etc, to provide more context.
It’s the title and description that cannot have links in them; supporting info is only used to support the nomination, and doesn’t get posted in Lightship once a Wayspot is approved.
if you want to share the location, we can take a look at it and see if we think it would be SFPRP.
i stumbled upon the group searching those phrases you painted. i don’t think pushing an agenda through pokemon go is appropriate, if that is what you were going for. it would be acceptable to say something like “LFL is sponsored by The Raven Corps, a group that (fill in here)”
Well the goal wasn’t exactly to force an ‘agenda’ on people, the goal was to help people in my neighborhood discover that I’m willing to open up my space to engage and help with the community.
But I do appreciate the insight and I’ll try to nominate the library box instead
