Can we remove the Wayspot without meeting with the hospital administrator?

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title:緑の休憩所
  • Location (N35.50474/E136.21294):
  • City:Nagahama City,Shiga Prefecture
  • Country:Japan
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email *(
  • )*:
  • Additional Information (This location is on the grounds of a hospital with emergency care and would interfere with hospital operations, so it meets the ineligible criteria for a Wayspot. A request was made to have it removed, but the person in charge just kept repeating, “We need to work with the facility administrator.” )*:

Do we have to meet with the hospital administrator to remove the Wayspot?

Wayspots that do not interfere with the emergency service operation but are on hospital grounds are not disallowed, therefore they ask you to get the hospital operator, because only they can ask for a removal.

They’d need to use this form:

Not everything on the property of a hospital is ineligible. This looks like in an area that doesn’t interfere with emergency operations and I think it should not be removed.

I feel like I’m going to the hospital even though I’m not sick.
Similar things have happened at other hospitals, but even when I explained the situation, they responded with a bot and there was nothing they could do.

I’m not asking for your opinion.
You don’t understand the reality of this place.

I had a similar issue where a covered driveway was submitted as a pavilion and accepted as a wayspot which became a pokestop at an outpatient clinic. I knew that location obstructed emergency services, because that was where the ambulance picked up my husband when he went into afib during a procedure, but it wasn’t marked as emergency anywhere. My report was similarly declined, so I found a contact email on their website and let them know the Pokestop existed and how they could contact Niantic if they wanted it removed. They thanked me, and sent in the request. So if this appeal is also rejected, you could try that.

Why do you feel this Wayspot needs to be removed instead of making the personal choice to avoid it?

What evidence besides it existing in a hospital can you provide that supports it obstructing emergency services as opposed to the day to day operations?

The first sentence they provided is factually accurate. Not everything on the property of a hospital is ineligible. The second sentence is an opinion, but no different than you expressing your opinion of this Wayspot obstructing services without providing more details for the staff to review.

Help us understand or else staff will be unlikely to assist.

I think there may be a few issues that the OP is seeing. This is a government hospital, Nagahama Municipal Kohoku Hospital, so it’s not a private hospital. However, there’s nowhere that states that possible Wayspots on government facilities are not allowed; this would be on a case by case basis.

Another part of this hospital is that there is also a nursing home, again not a location that is automatically ineligible, as well as a social welfare agency for the elderly. There certainly are Wayspots at places like these, and most do not interfere with the work of the facilities (I think both the residents, staff, and family/friends visiting could play at a Wayspot at an outdoor gazebo, for instance).

Being this is Japan, and there is a high resepect for the elderly, this may be one of the issues the OP is seeing with this Wayspot. However, just because some place may be for older people doesn’t automatically make it ineligible to have Wayspots. This could also be an area that is restricted, as I do see some signs on Street View that may indicate this, but that still doesn’t make anything ineligible, as Wayspots are allowed at places where people are restricted.

Personally, while this is just a green space in front of the complex, it may be hard to remove, since removal criteria can be strict. I have a hard time seeing this getting removed.

Here is the website for the hospital, if anyone if wanting more info:

I’m not finding a listing for an emergency department here, BTW.

The nursing home has a separate website here:

And if you want to take a look around Google Maps, you can do so here:

Well, sir, in that case you should not post on a public forum. Everybody here is entitled to their opinion. Everyone, including you and me, are free to share their opinions irrespective of you wanting it or not. You can choose to ignore or reject my opinion but for sure can’t stop me.

I stand by my opinion that the Wayspot doesn’t meet any of the known removal criteria.

Have a great day!

For now, I decided to wait and see how things develop at this spot.

You shouldn’t bother the hospital staff with your illness and nonsense.

There is an entrance for ambulances and local buses on the south side of the hospital, so we will consider how to respond if spots appear in such locations, or if spots where many people gather, such as gyms, are created.

I was disappointed by the feedback from the community, which seemed to ignore the local situation.

Everyone is free to report any wayspot if its ineligible. You have report it and wayfarer reject it. You can either get more evidence for its removal or inform hospital and get them to remove it themselves.

This Wayspot is at the east central part of the hospital, and isn’t near the ambulance entrance, so it’s not obstructing emergencies services.

If the hospital truly had issue with the Wayspot, there is a procress in place for the management to contact staff and request removal. The online form is how every property owner/manager has to go about having a Wayspot removed from property they own and/or manage.

Personally, a few years ago, I spent a few days in my local hospital. I had left my phone at home by mistake before going to the walk-in clinic, and they had me admitted. The hospital I was at has Wayspots for some of the statues out front, the organ donor memorial, art in the main lobby and dining area, all areas that don’t obstruct emergency services and are open to the public. I was so bored and really missed having my phone to play some PoGo to cheer me up a bit.
