Failed removal of multiple pokestops/portals from hospital grounds

Hi,

I’ve tried several times both on my pokemon and ingress accounts to remove these stops. And been told probably by the automated system no..They are located on the grounds and inside the University Hospital Limerick. These stops require you to go into the hospital to spin them and now getting close to a new gym quota now.

This hospital suffers severe overcrowding in its A&E and doesn’t need players just going in there unnecessarily.

I’m including coordinates to the hospital and an iitc screenshot (outdated …more stops there since it was last updated)

Hoping for some advice on this as I can’t be the only one who believes this stuff shouldn’t be in hospital grounds.

Welcome to the forum.

Density of Wayspots is not a criteria issue. If you believe the hospital wants these Wayspots removed, you should alert staff there and have them do a property owner removal request.

The form to remove Wayspots and Pokestops is this one linked at the top of the forum:

I believe the form to remove portals is this one:

If the issue is that you do not want to go in and spin the stops, then don’t. Find another place to play. I am sorry if that sounds harsh, but all Wayspots do not have to be accessible to all people.

To add to what @cyndiepooh has described about owner requests which can request full removal or limit the availability or activity at any gyms…
If the wayspots are legitimate wayspots, it is only if a wayspot would block or interfere with the emergency services that the wayfarer team ( ie without an owner request) would remove only if interfering with emergency services. There may also be inappropriate areas because of the sensitive nature eg a hospital chapel.
If there are places where someone can play whilst waiting or if in hospital for awhile then those can be really good aspects to break the stress.

Thanks

Thanks for the info…I’ll try pass it on…I’ve never spun them intentionally nor do I plan to as I have no call to be in the hospital thankfully.

Just to clarify the way I read Niantic/Scopely’s criteria — Wayspots or POI’s on hospital grounds are only removed if they block emergency services (so, think of a ER entrance or ambulance bay), are in restricted/staff-only areas, or no longer exist. Many hospitals have valid POIs such as chapels, gardens, or artwork, and those are acceptable.

It’s important to note that someone’s personal preference or discomfort with players visiting a hospital isn’t a valid reason for removal. If a specific Wayspot is truly unsafe or interfering with emergency operations, please provide clear evidence so Niantic/Scopely can review it properly.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

First, I would remind everyone that just because a stop exists in a place, that doesn’t mean players are being compelled or lured to go to that location to play. Each player needs to heed the rules of “Do not trespass while playing.” Essentially, if going to a location could cause a problem, do not use the game as an excuse for your bad behavior/choices.

Second, I remind everyone that while YOU may not have a reason to be in a particular location, plenty of other people may be able to be in the location with permission without causing a problem. In the case of the non-emergency parts of a hospital, there are employees, patients, and family members who have every right to be in the hospital. While a family member is sitting in their loved one’s room, they are not harming anyone or getting in anyone’s way if they fire up a Niantic game like Pokemon GO to pass the time. A patient who is bored while waiting in bed to have a surgery doesn’t cause any problems by spinning a stop or doing a raid. Many wayspots are going to be in lounge areas or other public areas that are designed as places for families or patients to get away to relax.

There are many pokestops and a couple of gyms at the hospital where I work. Executives are thrilled that our patients have something to engage them and make them feel like they are “at home” while they are with us.

Well said. Very sensible and clear.

Fully agree with you. The largest hospital in my city has some Wayspots, and they are for things such as statues, busts, and other art, as well as dedication plaques. I think this helps those visiting, staying, and/or working take a break and enjoy the games for a few minutes, as hospitals can be stressful places. And all of the Wayspots are in areas that are not near the emergency room entrance and fully open to the public.
