Clarity on "Niantic Automated Process" rejection

Hi all,
I am assuming the automated rejections are some type of machine learning. If this is the case, what are the best steps someone should take when a nomination that seems to be of good quality is rejected via the automated process? Does this usually mean that the picture is not good enough quality for the automated process to accept it and if so, is it recommended to re-send a automated rejection with better/different pictures?

There’s no one answer to this question. We can help you figure out how to address your issue if you show us screenshots of your whole nomination.

You can post here if you want advise on the picture. Or just appeal or resubmit. But know that you only have 2 appeal, each with 15days cooldown

Welcome to the forums

If you are going to resubmit after an automated rejection (machine learning), always use different photos, as reusing the same photo might cause an instant rejection even f the problem was with the title/description/etc.

If you are convinced the submission is eligible, it is often helpful to post the details here to get advice, as there could be something negative about the submission that you are unaware of.

I don’t have a “best practices” answer for you, either. I personally will try to resubmit with a photo that is better focused on the point of interest if I think that the photo can be improved. Having done Wayfarer for a long time, I will appeal the rejection if I don’t believe that I can get a better photo. We get two appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use it again.

I do not mean to imply that the Machine Learning model only goes by the photo when I give this advice. We don’t know exactly what it is looking for, and we shouldn’t, since that would make it easier to abuse.

If you would like advice as to whether your nomination meets eligibility in general before you resubmit or use an appeal on it, we would be happy to look at screenshots of your contribution.
