My concern about using Campfire as the only map source is that it is (currently) app only. For my workflow, being able to access from a computer is important, as that is where I review and plan. When I plan, I create pins on Intel using my laptop and then synchronise those pins to my phone so I am able to access them when I am out and about submitting. But being unable to use a laptop at all would be a significant negative for me.
Also, one of the benefit of Ingress Intel was the vibrant developer community. I highly value being able to develop plug-ins which can add features which are wanted by the broader community – but that wouldn’t be possible on an app. I don’t think any map tool will have everything I want, but I would rather have a browser-based map with 20% of the features I want (and be able to develop plug-ins for the rest of the features), vs. have an app with 40% of the features I want but not be able to develop any plug-ins whatsoever.
