Confused About Pokestops

I am genuinely confused about how to get a new Pokestop. I submitted the picnic area at the Thorn building as a new Pokestop and in less than one day it was denied, but sitting in the Thorn building I can see a gym that is a private pool in an apartment complex. It says “A fun pool with public parking.” You might say, well the apartment complex only has the one gym and no Pokestops, but I can see a business down the street with 3 gyms and 5 Pokestops. That building is not that much bigger than this one. Or maybe I just needed to point out that we have public parking as well? We have a Pokestop that is the Thorn building. We have the same parking lot, so that can’t be it. You might say that some picnic tables are just boring and yet I have seen more boring Pokestops. I can see another gym from where I sit. It is a memorial sign for a fountain in somebody’s honor. There isn’t even a picture of the fountain. At least I took a picture of the nice lake and picnic tables. If someone can explain it to me, I would appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum!

If it was denied in less than one day, this was most likely a rejection by the “automated process” which is a machine learning model. We don’t know exactly what it looks for, but we can try to advice on either an appeal or a resubmit if you post screenshots of the rejected nomination.

Welcome! What @cyndiepooh said! I have had many picnic areas automatically declined by “Emily” especially when nature is involved.

I have found that the closer I frame the shot on the picnic tables themselves instead of a broad shot capturing the surroundings that include lots of trees “pass the muster” with the “machine learning model”. I use the broad shot now for supporting.

Not sure if your picture had lots of “nature” included but that’s been my experience.

Probably too late as I already went ahead and appealed it with some of the same things I said in the post.

This has a good chance on appeal. I tend to make my appeal statements more about the specific Wayspot I submitted.
