A college library and resource centre (study area) in one room - a college in england.
Information sign about a birds nesting
The library was rejected on the grounds of it being a school. K-12 means “Kindergarten to Twelfth Grade (i.e. 18)”. Nottingham College offers courses from 14 years old to adult, according to the website… I’m not sure that’s a K-12. Also, the picture is a bit underwhelming (I understand it may not be possible to get a better one), indoor locations are notoriously difficult to geolocate.
The Skylark sign has been mentioned here before. Specificially it was rejected for “Low Quality Photo” because it has been taken at night. I don’t think the photo is too bad, but a daytime one face-on may be better. However from the submission I recall that it is near some other similarly-themed signs and may not be distinct… how many signs about skylarks do you actually need?
I actually saw both and voted on neither as I wasn’t convinced by them. Potentially they could be valid, I just didn’t feel the love.
Hi
the library
I’m a bit torn on about it. The location difficult to be sure about. The supplementary doesn’t really help locate its whereabouts in a building.
Then the college was tricky. I know the sort of place it is as we have one locally. The mix of ages.
It is hard to judge what portion of its students are under 18 and therefore count as the school category. I had a look around and I can’t tell the from info what it might be.
I don’t think you are helping by stating that a college is something not covered by by K12 rather than tackling that there is an element that would be under 18 and providing evidence of whether it is a major or minor component.
Skylarks
I don’t think the bird picture is great but might be ok. However the supplementary is too dark to show surrounding area so it will be difficult to confirm and it just adds to a poor overall impression.
It is very frustrating that at the moment the weather has been poor and there is very little daylight, so not great for wayspotting.
I honestly thought that for the uk that anything after you’ve finished secondary school can get accepted for a wayspot as we finish secondary school at 16 and in america they finish at 18. I believe theres not many 14-16 year olds at the college, there might be 2 rooms of about 20 people so 40 people overall out of a 2000+ population college.
And about that skylarks one it is impossible to get a better photo as it gets dark around 3:30 and i never have the time to get photos earlier.
Those are the two different signs. As long as they both have different information and pictures does it really matter if there were loads of signs there?
Also this photo was taken around 6:30pm
Right, but this is my point… if there’s one skylark sign just here and another one a short walk over there, then the second skylark sign doesn’t necessarily add anything to the overall… errr… skylarkiness.
I’ve hardly been able to do photos because it gets dark so early it’s a pain.
My preference would be to move away from Americanisms to some more universal descriptors. When I started I had no clue what K-12/K12 meant. I wondered if it was a version of Keystage 1,2 etc.
but it is meant to include up to 18.
Of course in some countries you are considered an independent adult at a younger age.
Locally we had A level colleges and now the these are being pushed back into schools and the colleges are focussing on the older market.
It’s not a simple picture.
So are colleges in england not acceptable as people in it are usually aged 16+ and this would make them k12 in america which is what this rejection reason is based off
I guess this is a question for Niantic… does the restriction on K-12 institutions include any institution where there are students less than 18 years old, even if some of those students are more than 18 years old? Or does it only apply to circumstances in which all the students are 18 years old or younger?
That is an answer that we’re never going to get
