Hello…
I feel like that some pokestop creations are wrong because i try to make pokestops on like taxi stops what are used for children to get to school and it gets rejected… And then THERE IS A FLIPPING RANDOM AHH DUDE MAKING A POKESTOP ON A F***ING TREE!! AND IT GETS ACCEPTED.
IS THIS FAIR?!
I might quit this game because there is no pokestops near my home and there is no point of playing…
Thanks for reading
Edit: Im disabled so i can’t move far away so that is why im trying to create them to 200m radius
I understand you are frustrated but nearly everyone here is nothing to do with your situation. So vent a little but try to remain respectful.
It is best not to compare your submissions to any other pokestops - it will all end in tears.
People in here will be happy to help you see if there is anything suitable and to craft a good nomination. So if you want to tell us more.
However it is highly likely there is nothing within a short radius of your house and if that is the case then you have to accept that. If you don’t you will just feel frustrated and the other side of the fence will always look greener.
I don’t know where you live, but Niantic’s games are aimed at people who go outside.
John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, has made this clear in interviews with web media.
Please first realize that Pokémon GO is a very different Pokémon game than the Pokémon games created by TPC.
Niantic is not making a game that people with disabilities can enjoy inside their homes, but a game that people with disabilities can enjoy together with able-bodied people outside.
If we talk about creating Pokéstops on top of that, you need to learn what kind of things qualify as a wayspot.
Then try to nominate them with proper title and description and correct location information.
If you still get rejected, ask your peers here for advice.
As mentioned, please be respectful, even with your rants. There are actually many disabled players/Wayfarers, so you’re not the only one to have issues. I know there are Wayfarers have tried to create Wayspots at their own homes because they are disabled, but Wayspots aren’t allowed on single family private property, so it’s ineligible.
A place for children to get picked up for school wouldn’t be eligible, unfortunately. It would be considered a K-12 school location, as children under the age of 18 may be there frequently without supervision. K-12 schools, child care centers, day cares, and other locations cannot be accepted for safety reasons and to protect the children.
As far as a tree becoming a Wayspot, there are only a few instances where that would be acceptable, such as if it has a educational sign about the tree species, or may be a historically important tree to the community.
As for finding eligible places, you may want to take a look at the Wayfarer criteria again, as well as the tips for rural nominations thread. Both have a great deal of information in regards to what to look for and submit.
I wouldn’t use “outside” to describe what type of games Niantic is developing, as indoor locations can be eligible. I’d be somewhat said if libraries, art inside malls/businesses/galleries, and indoor sports/fitness centers all of a sudden became ineligible because of being indoor spaces.
I think it would be better to say that Niantic is creating games to encourage players to explore their communities, whether that be at locally important places, which fall under Explore, places for physical activity, under Exercise, or places to meet up with others, under Social. Community is even the word used to describe what Wayfarer in the help center.
Niantic Wayfarer is a one-of-a-kind community mapping program that allows you to directly shape your real-world adventures across all Niantic games. By participating in Niantic Wayfarer, Explorers become part of an interactive community and contribute to the development of the Niantic real-world map, which is the foundation for all Niantic games.
I call it “outside” when you go out from home.
You open door once to go out from home to “libraries, art inside malls/businesses/galleries, and indoor sports/fitness centers”, etc. Right?
These are collectively the "outside”.
They are different from the ”inside” of home.
I just find your phrasing to be somewhat discouraging, especially since the OP ranted about Niantic products and people with disabilities. I myself have disabilities, and am unable to leave my home at times, so I fully get where the OP is coming from, how they’re seeing things.
Outside to me says more ourdoors, and I can’t always be outdoors for too long. I can still get out to indoor venues and play safely, without having to worry about my health being impacted.
Again, to me, it’s more encouraging to all, disabled or able-bodied, to encourage exploration of one’s community than to tell players to get outside; there’s even able-bodied people that don’t like being outdoors/outside. It may have originally been the intention, but being not all people can safely be outdoors or outside, it’s been changed to be more inclusive.
A reminder
I think we need to allow a little latitude with the use of words on the forum. This is a global forum with many different languages used and with slightly different cultural uses of some words. So allow for some variation in the way a particular word is used.
I constantly have fun with differences between English U.K. and English USA
The criteria is global. Niantic is based in the US, so will have a US world view. Different places will have different ideas of what is significant and worth visiting (UK postboxes, etc.) and the criteria is written to try to allow for these differences.
