- Wayspot Title: İLTAREN
- Location (lat/lon): 39.8986752, 32.7027271
- City: Ankara
- Country: Turkey
- Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
- Additional Information (if any): ILTAREN is in a military protected zone which also located inside the barrack (İlhan Tan Kışlası) region. Their main purpose is developing technologies for defense industry. It’s status as a sensitive military and critical infrastructure site.
- We reported the portal per “sensitive location” as the POI guide which includes military zones but for some reason, our removal request is denied.
- Proofs:
- Website: https://bilgem.tubitak.gov.tr/en/iltaren/
- Detailed Information about the Institute: https://bilgem.tubitak.gov.tr/en/iltaren-corporate/
- Google Maps: Per request from Turkish Government, areas that includes military zones and critical government buildings inside Türkiye are removed from Street View and detailed viewing, which ILTAREN is one of them.
- Barrack Location: Typing the name of the barrack in Google Maps will relocate to ILTAREN.
- University Advert: https://gazi.edu.tr/posts/download?id=232781 This is a Turkish advert for their secondary zone(located at Konya but both institutes are the same) where the engineer candidates can apply and work for developing technologies for defensive industry.
This portal is located in an institution affiliated with the National Intelligence Organization. It is a very sensitive place in terms of both military zone and national security. No phones are allowed inside. Those who opened and used the portal have somehow gained access by hiding it. Although it was previously closed with a report from within the institution, it has been reopened. It is a portal that is definitely against the rules and must be removed. Please do what is necessary.
In addition to my game-mate; this protal does not meet the ingress portal criteria.
- Location with a cool story, a place in history, or educational value : There is no cool story or educational value at the building.
- A cool piece of art or unique architecture. None, a standart building with no piece of art or architecture.
- A hidden gem or hyper-local spot: It is in a military zone. If you want to get shot by a military guard while playing game, be my quest.
- A community gathering place: be realistic, there is no community gathering places in military zone.
- Taking a clear, bright photo (candidates do not necessarily have to be visually impressive to meet acceptance criteria). Even a camera is not allowed within premises.
Welcome to the forum @EMREOYUN
Locations that have limited access (including military places) can still be valid as wayspots, so long as the people who have access to the location can do so safely and are not banned from using phones and electronics on site. Given that the wayspot has a photo, it suggests that photography may be permitted outside of the building, and that this may actually be a valid location if that is the case.
If the owners of the property are not OK with this Wayspot existing, you can advise them that they can request removal via this form.
Hi @TheAlki,
Welcome to the forum
It is great to add context to what makes a great wayspot, but your link seems to be a bit outdated. While similar, the current criteria can be found here:
This thread is in regards to the same Wayspot restore appeal.
It can take staff a few days, sometimes longer, for a decision to be made by them about restoration.
Hello @DTrain2002, this thread is about removal request (not restoration) of the portal while the other one is restorarion of the same portal. It is indeed different topics about the same portal. They opened up the other thread because the portal we are talking about is got removed from the game, without any decision or response from Niantic so this thread is in stale at this point.
General reminder
This forum expects all members to respect each other.
Speculation about why a wayspot that involves references to game play is not helpful.
The Wayfarer Team will in due course make a comment.
There is no need to for further posts as the relevant information has been posted.
Thanks for the appeal, @EMREOYUN. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
