Hi support

I would like to submit an appeal to my previous removal request that has been rejected. The reason of the removal request is due to the POI is Military Base and not for civilian.

Not to mention that accessing the area is strictly prohibited, and if somehow you are able to go inside, Playing PoGO or ingress there also poses unsafe action to you: the military personnel will arrest you and ask you about your action (reasonable suspicion is enough to justify detaining you)

To prove that this POI is not in best interest of playing PoGO and ingress, here is the screenshot of what to accept and what to reject in wayfarer criteria

Have a look also the GSV (outside) the area (here is the link)

Kindly also delete the wayspot inside the yellow circle as it is in the same unsafe location

Hopefully support will be able to process and approved my appeal so that Niantic game will have less unsafe location to the player.

Thank you very much.

Wayspots on military bases are permitted, so long as they are not in an area of the base where personnel and permitted visitors would not be allowed to use their phones.

When reviewing, if you press the tool tip on the “appropriate” section, you will see this clarified:

It doesn’t matter if the general public does not have access, so long as anyone who does have legitimate access can do so safely and is allowed to use their phone, which seems like it may be the case given that they were able to submit these wayspots, and that the objects submitted do not appear to be sensitive areas.

appreciate your input, however please do not comment if you are not local and bring such vague screenshot.

in my country, even military personnel that work inside the premise is not allowed to use phone (not to mention playing pogo or ingress using that phone)

I will rest my decision to the Niantic Support, as they have the most experience with this issue

The screenshot is from the info tool tip whilst reviewing. It’s not vague, it’s literally a part of the criteria that’s visible when reviewing. I just figured I’d share it, as nominations on military bases are often misunderstood, and this appeared to be one of those cases. I was just trying to be helpful

Just an observation here, but on Google Maps, there appears to be several locations marked on the map in the base that all have multiple photos and/or videos attached to them, including a video of military personnel playing what looks like football. To me, that suggests that electronic devices are permitted to be used by anyone authorised to be there, and that the area is not considered sensitive as a result, so there probably shouldn’t be an issue with the wayspots existing. As you say though, we will have to wait to see what Niantic says.

you forgot to highlight some words…

Thank you for the additional highlight. Yes, this place is a serious place, not some military office or military museum where, on a seasonal basis, it is open for the public to admire weapons, armed forces, armed services, military history, and military war machines.

A wayspot there will interfere with this place’s operation.

Of the four way spots you have circled, none appear as if they could interfere with military operations. The top most is a fitness center, the second down is a kindergarten, next a sports field and the last is a mosque. While the kindergarten should be reported, the other three seem to be completely legitimate wayspots, even if only military personnel can access them.

Just consider this picture before anything. So yes, it would definitely interfering with any military operations in there.

Its a secured entrance just as id expect to see in any military area. That doesnt prove waypoints in non operational area within the grounds can obstruct military operations.

Military bases often include residential and recreational areas for staff/soldiers. Those areas are not excluded from Wayfarer, just like a recreational area in a gated residential community to which only residents have access is not excluded from Wayfarer. If the military base doesn’t want a way spot there, they can ask for removal, but it does not violate Wayfarer guidelines.

This probably varies from country to country, and from base to base within countries. Maybe you can find a link to a military site saying civilians aren’t welcome there?

Thanks for the appeal, @0mandy We took another look at the Wayspots in question and decided that they do not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
