Dog park rejection

  • Wayspot Title: Losloop gebied
  • Location (lat/lon): 52.202633 , 4.419165
  • City: Katwijk aan Zee
  • Country: The Netherlands

My Wayspot submission appeal was rejected with the reason “It’s a normal sign post.” with the rejection criteria being general business and temporary/seasonal or non-distinctive. However, in Katwijk, we have several parks where dogs must remain on a leash, and this specific sign clearly indicates that dogs are allowed to walk off-leash in this area: Dog park map. Similar signs have already been accepted in other locations, so I was surprised by this rejection.

This park is also part of the “Waterloop,” a scenic route that spans across Katwijk. You can view the full route here: Waterloop Map. Having more Wayspots along this route would encourage players to explore these enjoyable paths through the parks. So I would like to understand why this rejection has happened.

For reference, here are examples of similar, previously accepted posts:

Thanks for your time, and kind regards!

Hello and welcome,

What did you provide for the description and supporting info? Did you include any of the links in the supporting info? Seeing what you provided for them will help better to understand the initial rejection, which most likely was that others didn’t find it distinct enough, and that’s what the appeals team is also noting.

Also, I would have gone with a name closer to the other Wayspots, since they note they are dog walking areas/parks, not just a runaway area, which is what Losloop gebied translate to in English.

This area doesn’t look like a designated dog playground. This marker is to show that you can leave your dogs without leash which does not meet eligibility criteria. Niantic removed thousands of these on the old forum in that grant post reporting abuse in NL.

Ah, yes, Netherlands…I forget about the issues there sometimes.
