Hello there, I am in Colorado Springs and work at Ed Robson Arena, which is located right near downtown. This arena is home to Colorado College men’s hockey Division 1 team. I have been nominating pokestop all through out the arena, and none have showed up. While the college owns the building, it operates all day and all night as a public building. We also host large events like D1 hockey, USA weight lifting, international jump rope competition, and other things similar. We hold close to 4,000 people. I look at other arenas our size and those all have gyms and pokestops scattered around. I’m curious why none have spawned dispite this being a public building.

A Wayfarer team member would have to confirm to know for sure, but it strongly, strongly looks like the college management requested for this area to be excluded from Pokémon GO. There are many wayspots in the area visible on the Wayfarer map, no doubt including yours, they are just not Pokéstops. Property owners or managers are entitled to making such requests if they are bothered by game-related activity in the area. I suspect that is what happened here.
I am curious however why I have two spots in the big cells, but nether of them are a gym? I know it wouldn’t be in the arena, but shouldn’t one of them be a gym?
Not sure if you are able to see on the map. But the stops “rock zone” and totem pole “soaring” are in different small cells, but are in the same bigger cells when it comes to the map. Shouldn’t one of those be a gym?
You have to look through the entire big cell to see everything, and I can’t get it in one screenshot due to the zoom on the Wayfarer map. But the gym @Xenopus mentioned would be in the L14 with those two. And it looks like that cell is one away from getting a second gym.

There are many knowledgeable and passionate Wayfinders there, including many of the Wayfarer Ambassadors.
Historically, it has been observed that there are ways to influence which becomes the gym, but Niantic has called trying to do so abuse. This was discussed on another topic on the forum where staff did not choose to comment: From PokeStop to Gym? A showcase stop will not become a gym.
Thank you very much for this! The manager of the arena has recently changed. Is it possible that if the new manager/executive of the arena could change their mind and update this? Or is that not possible? What would that process look like?
