Fake and Duplicate Wayspots

Today, while I was checking myself, I found this, duplicate proposals and very obviously false proposals, what is done in these cases, do I report it? But then there is the other one that if I report so much I even expose myself to being banned, but it doesn’t seem fair to me, one tries hard to find real points and this person even has the same photo twice.

pongo las coordenadas para que lo vean por ustedes mismos.

17.9426820, -94.9248910

See what you can find using Google Maps, take the approximate gps co-ords then use the “Reporting Abuse” link at the top of the page.

I have had mixed results with this so don’t get upset if they don’t all get the reply you expected.

Look at this coordinate: 17.9433050, -94.9238590. It even has Google Street View from February 2025, and neither Street View nor satellite can show a soccer field. With Ingress Intel Map, you can see the other, clearly false, proposals.

As the “Any Duplicates” doesn’t give you the Co-Ords you can find them using Google Maps.

Confirm whether either is correct.

Then use the “Reporting Abuse” link above to report your findings.

Being that it’s close to another Wayspot, it’s possible that it’s not in PoGo, and the submitter doesn’t know about the S2 cells, so they submitted again.

Or, this could be a honeypot, which is when staff add duplicates to the review flow to see how we, the reviewers, report them.

It’s up to you how to mark this, either as a duplicate or using the Report button at the top of the page. Reporting for abuse may be the better option, as submitting duplicates just clogs up the queue.

I have removed the Wayspots. Thanks,

I see these same types of duplicates when I review. I think they are purposely inserted into your review queue to test if you’re botting or just speed reviewing. If you miss them, then you get hit with the “anomalies in your review pattern” and put on the 6 hour cool down.

:face_with_bags_under_eyes:

I can assure you that this is not how it works.

Please be careful not to spread misinformation if you don’t know 1000% that what you say is true. Speculation is dangerous.

That’s interesting, my post was literally the same idea as the other poster who mentioned a honey pot but with the addendum of the temporary cooldown. Yet this one gets the specific clarification? And not that they’re not connected, but that it’s not how it works. So there is something here.

Thanks, although I don’t know what to do with the other false proposals, should I report them directly or send proof here that they don’t exist?

In the past when I have come across stuff like that I have taken screenshots, and then reported through the help chat with as much information as I could gather. Good to make note of the coordinates, and names of the suspected fakes.

Sorry for reopening the thread, but the person has sent the fake wayspots again and this time they even placed them in a different position using the same photos,

Sorry for opening the thread again, I don’t know if you know who sends proposals or what, but I have already reported this place for many false proposals, and they continue sending, I attach a proposal that has recently appeared to me qualifying.

The proposal is clearly false and manipulated by artificial intelligence. Many people might not notice it and accept it. Even if they accept it, I will report it immediately.

I also give you the address of that location.

I have taken necessary action on the Wayspot. Thanks,
