Finding lat/long to appeal rejected reports

Hi all – I submitted a bunch of reports for invalid wayspots (e.g. fake locations, disc golf wayspots where each individual hole is a wayspot, etc.). Some of these reports were rejected, and I’d like to appeal. How do I figure out where the wayspot was? The submission email doesn’t include lat/long or address, and neither does the rejection email. All it says is the name of the wayspot and the text I submitted in my report. Do I need to start including lat/long in my reports so that I’ll be able to find the wayspots later to apppeal the rejections?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to track this without using external plug-ins. A community-developed tool exists for automatically tracking which Wayspots were reported and the outcomes, however I cannot provide a link due to forum policies.

I figured this was the case… thank you! This is really a basic quality of life feature that should be implemented within Wayfarer itself.

Hey,

You can get the exact coordinates from Wayfarer Map if you know the rough address of the Wayspot.

Hi @NianticAaron – sadly I don’t. It didn’t occur to me when submitting that I might need this information later on, and the confirmation / rejection emails don’t include location details, making it challenging to appeal. For the future, I made myself a spreadsheet so that every time I submit a report, I can log the name of the wayspot, the address, the lat/long, etc. in case I need these details later.

I just had an epiphany and remembered where this one is  I will go and appeal before I forget

I had the same experience when using the report from the map feature. I had no idea where in the world the wayspots I reported were. I installed @Tntnnbltn 's tool to track my reporting history for me. Alternatively, when reporting through the reporting abuse form linked at the top of the forum, that one does record the location.

I know exactly what you mean. By the time a reply comes back for something, I have often completely forgotten where it is. This is even more prevalent for me now that the Wayfarer Map allows for reporting Wayspots directly.

Unfortunately, reports are the only type of contribution which do not show up on the Contribution Management page. Otherwise, the Contribution Management list could find Wayspots. Also, there is no way to search the map by Wayspot title. (If it was something which also existed in Ingress, you could use Ingress Mission Finder to find it, but that won’t work for things submitted since those databases split).

It would be nice if users did not need to rely on external tools or manual tracking in a spreadsheet to find these details.

I agree. From now on, I’ll probably include the lat/long in my reports just so that the confirmation email will include them. I was only able to find this one because it turns out that I had reported multiple wayspots in the same area, and one of them spelled out the entire name of the disc golf course, rather than just using the acronym. A few other reports have been rejected and I spent awhile searching on the map to try to find them, but with no luck.
