I was only sharing a similiar experience and a explaination as to why their account was permanently banned.
If you think we have a bad reputation you have every right to think so, but most people don’t tell the full story and just complain here.
We have a awesome community here of the forums and we will gladly help with any questions that arise.
You are getting your facts from subreddits and the internet which is not reliable, the story is said in a way there so it seems that the community here has a bad reputation.
Staff has already given their asnwer and a second chance was decided not be given which is reasonable since ToS was broken.
We don’t necessarily have to give compassion if we don’t want to, we are here to answer questions and to help with problems someone has.

Human nature is that people often don’t read things in computer systems. Off-topic, but if you have a system which displays a warning “something has gone wrong and everything on your computer needs to be deleted”, with buttons “Yes” and “No” (or “OK” and “Cancel”) underneath, a lot of people will delete everything on their computers.
No amount of warnings and messages will stop people trying to cheat. Many won’t read them and some will read them, cheat anyway then complain when they are caught.

I know that people dont read lengthy terms documents. I did though.
That’s why I suggested a more user friendly approach with some small, easy to read popups on login (the login page even has some small pieces of information- that space could even be used so no one can X out of it for a few seconds!!)
If people blatantly ignore the information then I do have little sympathy. I have some sympathy for people who are less strong willed than I am who are led astray by locals who’ve successfully cheated their way through 9 years so far and feel invincible and like anyone who sticks to the rules is stup1d, since that’s what they call me

I have the impression ( I have not looked at numbers) that we have been getting more posts here from those receiving different levels of sanctions. I have found that the initial posts are welcomed, and offers of help to understand are made. The community ask for some details to help work out best ways to support.
I have not seen an initial post treated unfairly, even when the person might understandably be angry. A lot of patience has been shown. The community has been happy to support people to appeal and set out their case, offering advice as to how to do this.
Advice has been freely given and discussion and probing around the situation has uncovered more. This has helped, in some cases, ways to be found that someone can provide evidence of a genuine error. On occasion the team have reviewed and changed.
The community have also been supportive of people who are going to have to serve their suspension, and who are looking to learn and change.
The first step on the road to a better situation is to stop denying or making light that what you have done is wrong. Once you do that you can move forward. It is frustrating for a community trying to help to be met with simple repeated denial that any wrong has been done. That in my opinion is not respecting the community.

I actually use this forum the most to get information. But yes, I also read other forums, and people here may not like it, but wayfarers don’t always have the best reputation. The main issues are usually that people think Wayfarers are to strict, and that there is a high probability you can get a ban.
I do see that most of the posts here are actually helpful, so I usually advice people on the subreddit to go to this forum to get help.
To make it clear, I do a lot of reviews, and yes I am very strict, I reject a lot of nominations, and have reported a lot of nominations for potential abuse.
And I do fully support the abuse ladder, but I don’t support skipping parts of the ladder, certainly not going to permanent ban without a warning, or temporary ban.
But that is all irrelevant, the point I tried to make to the forum members, is that it doesn’t hurt to be nice. And if you can’t say anything nice, you don’t have to make it worse.
I feel sorry for the original poster, and regret that he doesn’t get a second chance.
It’s a good idea, but i can see problems with it.
The loading page would be the best place to put information, but that is currently only used for positive gameplay nuggets, and anything like this would have a negative perception. It would set the wrong tone for a lot of people.
I don’t see anywhere else to put this sort of information!
Maybe your choosen trainer could give you that link in your pogo onboarding
Every account has to start there
Just serve a popup like they do for new events and in game news. A “did you know” about the rules would be a good service message. It could also be sent as an email.
It needs to be done on a regular basis so maybe annual reminders to the active player base, or including it in a series of welcome communications for new players /new wayfarers would also work well
Or just a pop-up every time you are submitting a new wayspot (just one tip at a time)

Yeah that too! Lots of opportunities to communicate more and inform newbies of what the official rules are (not the local flavour of made up justifications for how this particular variety of cheating is okay for us because xyz)
I didn’t see anything that was mean in the comment you replied to originally. Just a statement of facts. I love that we have regular members here who have been there, done that, and are now helping others not make the same mistakes. If I had seen your comment when you first made it, I would have flagged it for removal.

Just my opinions
- The OP has admitted to 2 offences.
- People appalling sanctions are likely to downplay their offences.
- Staff are unable to give extra details if extra offences have taken place.
- Regular occurrences where member states “I did nothing wrong” then staff comment suggests different with “Reasons have already been discussed, please read DMs”.
My final thought is that the OP may not be telling the whole truth and staff are unable to elaborate.
We have to believe that the facts of the case have been checked and deemed sufficient to warrant a full ban.
There are plenty of examples from other sources that read as “Wayfarer is bad, if you try to cheat and get caught you are punished and its not fair”.
I believe that nobody has to worry about bans if they are sticking to the rules. There is a slight chance that a “Honest Mistake” / “Possible Attempt to Manipulate” might get you a warning but to get a full ban is going to require substantial evidence.

I think you’re missing the part where this was a multi account. Someone doesnt deserve a 2nd chance on an alt account, that second chance comes in the fact that the other account didn’ get sanctioned.

The funny part is that the OP has stopped responding which makes me believe that they have been presented with evidence and they have understood their violation.

That could be true, but we don’t know that. Op said he shared an account with a friend, he was not talking about an alt account. And if you look at the respons from staff, I had the feeling that this was not the main reason for his punishment:
I also have serious doubts that the punishment was due to misplacing a nomination with 10-20 meters and sharing an account, but I don’t know the facts, so I try not to judge. And I feel that many people here do judge without any evidence.
One simple comment, just to say we are sorry, but if you are banned there is nothing we can do, would be sufficient.
As per the response from Aaron, there was a conversation between the Op and staff before this post. This means that the Op knew why they were suspended.
And why would they say sorry for acting on someone who violated criteria and abused the system.
That is called compassion, but I guess this is exactly where we differ. I don’t approve of abusing the system, but I do like to treat others with compassion, and I don’t like people suffering, even if caused by their own actions.
The comment you replied to as being uncaring was full of empathy.
I don’t know how you are making that lacking in compassion in your reading of it, but we do genuinely care here. That is why your accusations that we don’t are getting so many replies.
Do remember that many posters here are English second language, and don’t try to read anything into a statement that isn’t there.

compassion doesn’t mean you have to apologize.
Do you know the conversation between staff and the OP? Aren’t you judging staff as you have accused others of doing?
I would like to suggest that this topic be closed since the op got their answer.
