Today a person i on the local comminity told me that we had a gym removed. I tried to load the badge and i can still do that, so the gym is not removed, its still in the game. But not even showed as a pokestop? As far as i know, when there is over 20 stops in a cell it will trigger a new gym? There is currently 36 stops in this cell.
Isnt it a bug, since it hast made a new gym? This is no sponsered stops in that cell btw
As a general rule, when wayspots are removed, the cell rules are re-applied. This should mean that when a wayspot for a gym is removed, a pokestop will get converted to a gym.
This isn’t a 100% certainty and also it might take a couple of days. This is still showing on the wayfarer map, so this has only just been removed.
(I would be slightly annoyed at losing this wayspot, because it is on a pedestrian precinct to my eyes and looks like an eligible POI.)
This wayspot is very close to a level 17 cell border. Has it recently been moved? The movement may have caused it to disappear if so. I note that both the wayspot you mentioned and “Granit Hest” appear to be in the same level 17 cell, and so only one of them should appear in game.
Game board changes don’t always happen immediately. A new gym may appear at today’s sync, in about 4 hours from now. The wayfarer map that we can see also has a daily sync, and may not be reflecting the current in house data.
Yes. Maybe half a year ago the wayspot came out of knowhere because it apparently was “hidden in the cell” and one day it just showed up as a gym somehow.. Eventhough “Granit Hest” was in the same cell?
Something similar happened at my site, but with a PokéStop. It appeared in a cell that was already occupied. That PokéStop wasn’t appearing because the cell was already occupied by another waypot, and today I realized that both are sharing the same cell.
There have been several instances in these forums recently when S2 L17 cells have had two active pokestops/gyms for user-submitted wayspots. Niantic have said everything is behaving normally, so there appears to be a rule that the community haven’t been able to determine.
I would love to know what happened, too, so we can know when to direct people to Bug Reports & Technical Support and when it is actually expected behavior. But really glad you asked and got it solved!
