Help me revitalize my neighborhood

Hello,
First of all, I have read and understood the Wayfarer rules and the requirements for a new PokéStop. I have also submitted PokéStops that were in the same spirit as other PokéStops in my city. None of them were accepted, sometimes even refused on the grounds that they were in private areas, even though they were clearly located on public streets with pedestrian access.

I also do not understand refusals based on the claim that they are not “original” PokéStops, especially when you live in a city that already has very few PokéStops and when even small architectural details—such as architects’ identification plaques—are rejected. Meanwhile, other PokéStops in different parts of the city have been accepted, whereas three of mine were rejected specifically for not being considered original.

When you live in a small town, it’s difficult to have a statue or monument on every street corner. In my city, we really don’t have many PokéStops, and one of the few nearby Gyms was recently removed. If there are members of the community who could help me revitalize the number of Gyms and Pokémon in my city, that would be really appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Would you like to share screenshots of a specific contribution that you feel was unfairly rejected so that we can discuss?

In general, when you submit, you should go by current criteria, not what you see live in game. Here is a link to more fully explain, Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center, but basically you must convince reviewers that the point of interest that you are submitting is a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social.

The SFPRP (single family private residential property) rule making those locations ineligible extends to the boundaries of the property. Even if you can access something on or at a private home from the sidewalk, it is still not allowed. This guideline and many others are explained in the Criteria Clarification Collection section, which I highly recommend reading.

Hello, I have carefully read the recommendations as well as the different rules and examples available on the website, and they are eligible to become PokéStops. Moreover, regarding private properties, they were judged as such even though they are also similar to the examples shown on the site in the images.

Hey, with the examples posted here, you have proven that you have not understood any rules of Wayfarer Criteria.

The last example is a nomral street sign - submitting such thinbgs that are unrelated to exploration, excercise or socailsing as criteria, is never acceptable.

The photos don’t really help me understand what you are submitting.

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected
  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
  • Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
  • If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.

I will leave this to @kawin240  since he seems to be familiar with at least something you posted there.

Hello and welcome,

Image 1 and 2 seem like “building” or “estate” markers. Although some do get through they should show some artistic merit. These look fairly standard and do not meet any of the big three criteria. Nominations should be places that encourage you to Socialise, Exercise or Explore.

Image 3 seems just like a road sign (Dead End, No Through Route? ). This “should” never be accepted.

Suggest you take a look at the criteria link posted above, if you then have any questions please ask.

If you have something you believe would meet criteria, make a post in “nomination support” with images, suggested Title, Description etc and you will get advice.

If you are happy to state your general location (do not give your house address) people will take a look at the maps and make suggestions.

Good Luck.

For the “inscriptions”, it will depend on the context you will give in the title and description, and type of location, if you can give more details we can look together what to improve or if they are disqualified from the start.

The 2nd photo is the name of a Belgian architect - what kind of building is it? Is it interesting in some way?

The street sign is common in Europe for Cul De Sacs

Then you need to explain to me why so many PokéStops are simple streetlights and signs like this one.

Yes, because it is a low-traffic street that is quite hidden and happens to be the former entrance to a park and a historical site.
As for socialization, it is a place where neighborhood gatherings are held and where local artist walks and community events start. I know this well, as I have personally initiated several events in my neighborhood.

I know (UK Based), just not 100% it is used the same globally.

Then you need to show this in the nomination. Suggest you screen grab the full nomination of one of these and post it.

A name on a wall does not indicate any of what you say without context…

This comes from mass abuse of wayfarer in the BeNeLux region . What you see live in the games there is not representing the actual rules. Many of the spots can be reported and deleted

The sign is not the meeting point there then though, you need to choose something that realistically can stand in for that

Ok, I understand your remarks and I take them into account. Thank you for your advice.
However, regarding PokéStops such as signs and other objects that do not 100% meet the rules as points of interest, if they are removed, the Benelux region will become a desert in terms of PokéStops and Gyms.

Moreover, it seems to me that some countries now benefit from new rules allowing certain street corners to become PokéStops when there are no real points of interest available. Not all cities and countries are lucky enough to be rich in statues and unusual landmarks in their streets.

The street corners are an experiment from Niantic Scoepley. The Wayspots are not allowed to be submitted by users - no new rules have been made

I know it is in an experimental phase in some countries; I was simply pointing out that, considering what is being tested elsewhere, it clearly goes in the direction of helping areas that have very few locations eligible under the current rules to become PokéStops.

As this is a Niantic decision and they will decide whether to roll it out to more places and what algorithms will be used to decide where.

As reviewers we still have to stick to the rules of what should be Accepted and what shouldn’t.

Ok thx and keep up the good work :+1:

The BeNeLux region has plenty of actually great and interesting places so I highly doubt that
