Pokestop denied but fly can go on

It’s impressive that Niantic is denying pokestops, claiming that it’s a "just a regular street with no “appeals to pokémon community”, and other places have more than 3 pokestops and are of no use for the community at all!!
The “regular street” in question is frequently used by a lot of people to play the game, walk with their pets with a green area and a lot of shadows to rest. But the other one’s are just a fabric manufacturer with two pokestops and no one near is using them! A simple graffitti became the thing that we must go after to have a pokestop approved, no matter the place.
I was just now watching some youtube “fly” influencers get a bunch of money visiting other places with gps and mods and now I can understand why they are doing it!
Me and my girlfriend are playing the game since novermber 2024 and we are now at leves 37 and 35, with a 750 itens space in our bags and she doesn’t have any pokestops to replenish her pokeball stock in any pokestops near her place!!!
This is so injustice! The pokestop nomination is completely broken.
Several nice places with no pokestops and a bunch of empty and dangerous place with pokegyms!?
I thought that, reaching level 37 I could contribute to diminish this, but I was wrong.
Sorry for the harsh words, but I don’t think I could be quiet on this.
I wish a happy weekend to all of you guys!
Best Regards!

Hello @AlexDevide,

Welcome to Wayfarer!

It’s hard to give direct feedback without seeing your nominations. But first and foremost the community looks for a Great place to:

  • Exercise
  • Explore
  • Be social with others

I’m not sure that I understand how a street has a distinct spot that corresponds to one or more of the eligibility. It’s much easier to pick a very distinct item to tie the eligibility to.

If you are comfortable with it, you can post your nomination in the Nomination Support channel. If you choose to do that for this or other nominations I’d include the Title, Description, photos, and support information. That way folks can give you advice before nominating or appealing.

Best of luck to you guys!

Just let me know how to send you my nomination!
How can I send you the latlong of my nomination, of the nomination that I think it’s wrong, the printscreens that I took and so on…
I know that you guys need to check if there’s anything “distinct items” to tie to the eligibility to.
But I think indeed that this is so broken!
I see a lot of pokestops one on top of another with less interest than the one I nominated.
And, if needed, I can send real pictures of them!
Thank you again for your help.
Kind regards,
Alex

Niantic opened another chat to answer me, so that my post get “Dittoed” and no one could comment on it?

Check out this thread:

If you want to share a Draft of your nomination before you turn it in (it is on hold in your contributions tab), you can just take screen shots and share them.

For your rejected nomination you can do something similar. And the lat/lon will be in the response email to you.

I know why my nomination was rejected, the reasons were in the e-mail that I received.
I just don’t agree with that. Seeing that there are so many pokestops that are WAY worst than mine with just a graffiti in the wall that don’t exists anymore!
This is so unfare!

You can appeal if you feel strongly about the eligibility. You get 2 appeals every 20 days.

Seen fly guys thrive in the game with unfair ways, and we just can’t nominate a pokestop that is indeed significant…

Hello Alex,
It is better not to pay much attention to those who are on U-tube channels.
Sometimes poor quality wayspots are wrongly approved, but these can be deleted.
It is much better to try and put in good wayspots that will stay in the game.
It is hard when on the various media and alla round you people boast about theor easy access to pokestops but unfortunately thats not how it works. If people misuse the system they can lose their account.
We will happily help if you want to do things properly. We will help find suitable palces and make good submissions.

I know and appreciate that. Thank you.
But my intention is really to want to put in good wayspots, and that is the reason that I’m writing this just now.
I thank you if you guide me on doing things properly, but it’s a bit frustrating when I nominate a place that’s really nice for the community and it gets rejected, while I see a lot of others on my neighbourhood that are not nearly nice as the one I sent.
Thanks for your help and I really hope that you can help us, the community, to make this game better.

Like Eli said, don’t base your frustration over other existing pokestop or pokegym.

You have to keep in mind that reviewing nomination is also done by community, not just by Niantic team.

That being said, community could accept nomination that is not up to high standard or even a really low quality one. However manipulating wayfarer to their advantage could be punished by Niantic, to the point of permanent banned of account.

Lots of people in this forum would really love to help you out, by helping giving advice on how to create a good quality pokestop base on wayfarer guideline.

If you could give example of your nomination, people here could give you input on how to improve it.

Ok, here’s my nomination:
Lat, Long: -23.5900869847207, -46.623362899483524

No, there’s no graffiti, no warehouse, no bar, no parking sign, no residential plaque, or other “specific signs” that turn this wayspot recognizable via google maps.
But it’s a very nice tree filled way from a park, to another one, that could make very good routes and is frequently visited by a few of pokémon players, that I think it’d be a nice spot to rest and replenish you pokeballs.
On google maps you can see that less than 200 meters we can catch legendary pokémons on community days and mingle with the guys that go there.
There’s no temporary marks that make this place significant for you to see, but it’s a place that the neighbour love to walk and talk a little bit with their friends.
Hope you can understand what I’m saying, sorry for the foreign language (I’m Brazilian), and hope you can “walk in my shoes”.
And as always, Best and Kind Regards,
Alex

Remember that no matter how peeved you are, this is against Niantic’s TOS; and can result in accounts getting banned. You’re better reporting when you see it rather than giving them view time.

As for this one, I relied on my phones translation.

Walk in the Vila Mariana garden

A very wooded and quiet road, with a lot of shade to walk with your love Or your pets. Near squares with plaugrouds and equipment for exercises. A safe and well-wooded street, perfect for a quiet, flat and With a lot of shade. Perfect to take your pet.

So it may have got things wrong. On first glance I did see a recognisable car license plate in the photo which would be a rejection reason.

Can you let me know how this meets the Wayfarer criteria of:

  • A great place for exploration OR
  • A great place for exercise OR
  • A great place to be social with others

I see from your description that you think it is a nice quiet road, but right now, it doesn’t seem acceptable to me.

Hi @AlexDevide
Is the basketball field already a wayspot?

I would not accept this nomination. It is a generic street that’s not a good place to socialize, exercise, or explore. Try looking through the showcase, doing some reviews, and browsing review/nomination support forums before submitting a waypoint.

For example, there is a basketball/tennis court just to the right of your picture that would be an excellent place to exercise. There’s a lap pool right beside it. There are two more basketball courts down the street. Once you understand the criteria, you’ll realize your neighborhood is filled with potential waypoints.
