My POI nomination was rejected due to Wayfarer Criteria but I dont understand what excatly i can do to improve upon it. There are 2 other approved POI for the same sign I had nominated in my commuinty. They’re all placed right outside the entrance on a neighborhood/cul-de-sac right along the side walk. Ill provide the locations for the 2 other spots at the bottom to provide some insight to how those are set up.
A large number of the community feels those do not meet criteria. They are not a place to socialize, exercise, or explore. Personally, I do appreciate these types of signs as a sort of nod to urban exploration.
An important thing to consider, going forward, is that what’s in game & around you is not always a good indicator of what is eligible. Criteria changes, “bad” candidates get through the system, and you’re only able to see the photo & description when there may be substantial Supporting text that helped something pass.
My signs for apartment complexes don’t get accepted, but then when I appeal them they do. I personally don’t think they meet the criteria, but I used to think they were good for exploration, so I’d submitted them.
Just remember that whenever you nominate you need to make an effort to explain why your specific location is a place that exemplifies a location to explore, socialize, or exercise.
As a side note/question: what is going on in your supporting photo? The sky appears to be a wedge of brown on a seemingly nice day? Not sure why my brain is having trouble processing this.
The “Wayfarer criteria” rejection reason seems to indicate that Niantic’s ML (machine learning ai) model could not detect anything eligible in the photo. I will guess that your email says the decision was from “our team” instead of the “community”. I have found that the prettier my photo is - more centered on the subject, less glare, less other stuff in the picture - the more likely ML is to accept it.
If I got that to review in community voting, then I would have rejected it. You do not tell me why this meets criteria, and I don’t see how it does.
Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria
A great place for exploration
A great place for exercise
A great place to be social with others
Despite what the submission prompt says, don’t tell me why this would be good for Pokemon Go. Tell me why this is important to the community. To me, these are no more that a billboard advertising the real estate, and I reject them as generic business. Unless they are particularly artistic, historic, or something else that makes them qualify.
We have asked Niantic to do a clarification on these neighborhood signs, but they have not.
[edit: and i will be out the next day to begin submitting the hundred or so in walking distance if they ever do a clarification that they think these are eligible.]
It was my hand trying to block out the sun because it was right there making ut hard to get a good photo of the surrounding area. Sorry for getting you confused
