There is often a desire not to add descriptions to a particular new nomination. Unfortunately, there is no option to not write a description when nominating an object. As a result, I constantly see nominations with the same or almost identical title and description. How do you rate such nominations?
If there is nothing rejectable in the title or description, they should be accepted. You can use “I don’t know” if you aren’t sure if it is a
or a
. Using IDK is a valid answer.
In my opinion the title and description needs to be relevant and appropriate for the submission. I am asked to judge that submission on its own merits. I prefer that the title makes this wayspot identifiable, so when submitting i try to do so eg Lancashire Way, Stoneybridge Lane, but I don’t think it’s rejectable so might I don’t know.
A good title is essential, with the correct spelling and Title Case, it should also be briefly descriptive of the wayspot so that it’s unique but not too wordy.
The description doesn’t really bother me, unless it’s completely wrong or violates guidelines. Sometimes a good description will make me vote to accept when I was otherwise doubtful. There’s only so much you can say about a playground or information board, more that you can say about churches and hiking trails (for example).
I will agree that this is what it should be. But less than this is still acceptable as long as it is not incorrect.
I knew it had come up recently ![]()
Thanks for finding it.
Something I’ve learned from others on this forum is that not all languages have the concept of Title Case. So while it seems a fairly obvious preference to us English speakers, it’s actually not a requirement for Wayfarer.
Not quite the answer. I’m not talking about the names of different nominations, but about the name and description of the same nomination. When the information in the description repeats the information in the title and does not add anything else.
I did not mark this as the solution. I do not have the ability to do that except on my own posts. But I do think that this answer from NianticAaron answers this question as well. It may not be ideal, but if it isn’t wrong or another violation of policy, it is acceptable.
Yes, it was an English-centric answer but I think most people should know how to write an appropriate title in any language.
I wish there was an AI function that automatically added proper capitalization to titles. I submit changes to titles with bad capitalization when I find them in game, but generally accept it in Wayfarer if that’s all that’s wrong.
I am pretty picky about photo and description quality and have no problem giving them a thumbs down for those reasons.
But as @seaprincesshnb stated above, not all countries / languages use “Title Case” so AI would be going against the local language rules.
Personally I would prefer AI to Reject or at least ask for confirmation when it detects “lazy” nominations. “Title: Playground / Description: Playground / Supplemental: It’s a Playground”.
I’m interested in your opinion regarding my post about Bad photos and the examples given in it
That’s exactly what I was asking about. But as I understand it, that’s not a criterion for rejection.
When there is a “Rejection Reason” in “Description” that is “Low Quality” I would have no qualm about Rejecting the example I stated.
I am not asking for an essay so even “Title: Playground / Description: Playground in Niantic Park / Supplemental: Playground for the local children” is still lazy but enough to get it through.
