I appealed a poke stop contribution I had made which was rejected, then the following day, I received a warning when I signed into Pokémon Go.
I don’t want to get another warning or ban following the appeal request. I’d rather the contribution be withdrawn completely. I have only just hit the level needed to make contributions and I’m new to the process. I don’t want to be punished for my naivety.
hey there, a Wayfarer induced penalty is always accompanied with a set of emails citing the issue they found. Did you receive those, and if yes, what issue is described there?
If you haven’t received any, it could be that those two events are unrelated

Hi, I received an email:
Content: Remembering The White Horse Inn
Policy Violated: Malicious image submission
I thought the stop could fall under the historical site category, it was a public house which was demolished in 2010.
I used some photos of the public house as it was before this date from google.
There was not malicious intent behind this contribution.
ah ok, yeah then this penalty is correct. Using pictures from the internet is not allowed under the photo guidelines within the criteria: Niantic Wayfarer
You should be alright even though you appealed this ineligible nomination attempt, they will just reject it usually.
Another piece of advice for you, the categories in Pokemon GO are not connected to any criteria or even Wayfarer at all, it is only to categorize Wayspots in the database. For example, K-12 schools are explicitly not allowed by criteria, but they are still available in the category section.

I guess I’ll need to learn the guidelines extensively before making any more nominations.

The Criteria Clarification Collection is a HUGE help if you want a bunch of clarification on a variety of items that could meet the Socialize, Explore and/or Exercise criteria. Highly recommend to anyone that is new and wants a good jump start as its what I used early on.
