I completely missed the person behind the postbox… I suspect this will get rejected… just a bit annoyed with myself… It’s now in voting, and can’t withdraw it without contacting Support. Question is, should I contact support and request this be withdrawn because it has a person in the image, or just let it go?
Those people are unidentifiable. I would let it go and see how it does.
You know by posting it here, it can now be flagged as 3rd Party, right? You really shouldn’t post the images you actively have in review. That could also be a way to identify you as the submitter and try to get leniency in votes.
This information is not accurate. Wayfarer Community Forum is not a third-party site.
But posts here will come up on an image search and reviewers may consider it a third party photo, even though they shouldn’t and Niantic staff wouldn’t.
If you have contradictory information to @NianticAaron comment that is Niantic’s official line, please provide it. I’ve been down tbis route before, and whilst the review staff have in error used post on here to claim 3rd party images, that is definitely not the official line.
Don’t wish to be rude to an Ambassador, but I do expect a bit better from someone with some status on here.
Reviewers may be in error, and I am willing to take that hit.
I didn’t say it would accurately be flagged as 3rd Party, but it can be flagged that way and has been historically. We’ve seen people get sanctions that had to be overturned just for posting an image here. Why risk that and give the Wayfarer team extra work to do handling the situation?
Please read what i actually wrote. I said it can be flagged as 3rd Party. That can be done by any reviewer, not just Niantic reviewers if/when they find it posted on the internet.
I also notice that you completely ignored the part about you identifying yourself as the submitter, which is never a good idea while your nomknation is still under review.
That message could have been perceived differently, so I had to clarify.
That would be a super rare occurrence caused by human error, which would have been rectified. It’s not fair to generalize something so rare.

Let me help you understand what i mean.
- You have submitted this postbox and it is now being reviewed.
- You came to the global Wayfarer forum and posted the image being reviewed.
- Anyone who reviews in your area can see your name associated with this post and the image here.
- When they run across this while reviweing, they recognize it and say, “Oh this is Pidgeyslayer’s postbox nomination.”
- The submission has been identified as yours.
That’s why it is generally not a good idea to post images of nominations while they are being reviewed. This can be seen as a way to influence reviewers.
In this case, the chances of a reviewer searching for this photo/postbox on the internet is extremely low.
When reviewing postboxes that are visible on streetview and the photo looks normal, spending extra time searching for fake images or stolen images is just not going to be done.
True, it happend to me, a reviewer from Niantic did make this mistake, but this was corrected immediatley
