Immediately rejected upon releasing hold for "not adhering to Wayfarer criteria"

So I submitted an interesting apartment building in the area which to my understanding would absolutely fall under unique architecture, which is explicitly listed under great places to explore on the criteria page (Niantic Wayfarer), and it was immediately rejected by the AI as soon as I released the hold.

This is apartment complex “Die Fledermaus”, named so because of its unique shape. If you look at the building from above, it resembles the silhouette of a bat in flight.

In my opinion, this immediate automatic rejection was unwarranted, and if possible, I would like to avoid having to spend an appeal to get this approved.

Do bats not have symmetrical wings? If this is meant to look like a bat? I’m not a bat expert but that’s what I expected?

Anyways, this looks like a pretty dull building to me at first glance. Can you let me know how it is:

  • A great place for exploration OR
  • A great place for exercise OR
  • A great place for being social with others

I’ve done a search and can’t find any webpages that discuss the architectural merit of this building. Have you found any? Do you know who the architect is?

I think its got potential.
It sounds like it was on hold for at least 24 hours.
I have had this and I wince when I release hold to see if it is getting insta rejected.
There is nothing you can do except appeal and hope that the reviewers agree with you.
If its nearby do some research and make sure there are links to back everything up,
Can you get an interesting photo angle along the building to show more of the shape - Emily might still not like it and you have to be prepared for that.

(PS I saw it as a bat but then I am a bit batty according to some :joy:)

Being aerialists, bats turn and swoop, changing direction by modifying the contours of their two wings individually. An accurate rendition of a bat in flight needn’t resemble the bat-signal, iconic though it was.

Architecture rarely produces a literal copy of any natural form, since our requirements for the use of a building and the engineering requirements behind its design are usually so radically different from those that informed the original.

Doesn’t that ten-story, mirrored, red-capped tower look like something that might be a land-mark for the neighborhood?

Does every building catch your eye from overhead with curves and unusual angles? I thought most buildings were simple rectangles. If every building in your town resembles OP’s nomination, you’re probably correct that it might fail to stand out in your town.

Die Fledermaus/Weisshorn - SeniorenPunt
This seems a starting point havent time to check further

The shape of the building from overhead is definitely interesting. Not being symmetrical should not be a problem.

I think the op’s photo is not ideal as it doesn’t show off the architecture to best effect.

Looking at it from above, I can understand why it is called a bat, but I think I should have adjusted the shooting angle to capture the entire image. I feel that it is inevitable that it was detected as just a building and a program in some parts. I think it is necessary to take photos that show how interesting the façade is.

You may need to put aerial photo in surrounding photo. That way reviewer can tell whats unique about the building. The main photo doesnt show “bat” feature

I kind of like this, but it’s going to be tricky because the only photo that’s easy to take is on ground level. Is there a plaque or something?

This is the sort of think that might work on appeal, but you’d really need to come up with as much supporting evidence as you can.

Found a pdf file studying social cohesion in high-rise buildings including this one. It also has a list of amenities that may be eligible.

There’s the name of the building in a fancy font above the entrance, but that’s about it.

I’d love to see where you’re from if this is what you consider a dull apartment building. Most apartment buildings around here look like this:

So yeah, I’d consider Die Fledermaus to be leaps and bounds more notable.

It literally says that unique architecture is a great place for exploration on the criteria page.

It’s kinda hard to get a good photo of the building’s defining feature without a helicopter or a drone.

Otherwise you would have done so

So you have to find a photo to get past eMiLy and then be a hit with reviewers, or trust to an appeal. No ideal route without a drone (I don’t have one either).
