When a nominated location is obviously not at that location. Does one report it is fake at the bottom or just choose inaccurate location?
Every case is a judgement call. I like to be very sure before I flag something as fake, but this does appear to be a good candidate for that, especially with the photos both being the same.
Thanks hopefully it was just an error on them not moving the location marker.
It most likely was not. As Cyndie said, when both photos are identical, that usually means the photo is taken from a 3rd party source and that the location is intentionally faked.
I tried to give you a quick answer since I know there is a time limit on reviews. I did more research, but could not find a building that looked like this one anywhere in the vicinity. I searched on “Norwayne Victory Garden” and did find a post on Instagram and Facebook about starting one, but the address given there linked back to the Community Garden Wayspot that was already in game. I could not come up with this exact photo anywhere from the screenshots posted here, but I would guess it was shared internally somewhere. Without seeing the full nomination, I can’t say if I would have marked it fake, but I am leaning towards that I would have.
Fake: no supporting photo and apparent location mismatch. Most of the time when the supporting photo is the same as the main photo, it’s not a legitimate submission. Sometimes it is of course, but you can usually easily verify those.
As stated above it is your judgement call.
The main thing is that these are incorrect and need to be rejected in whichever way you decide.
Niantic have rightly not told us how the voting works but I am pretty sure that 1 person deciding Fake with the rest deciding “Incorrect Location” is not going to trigger any problem with the submitter. Now if it was the other way where most stated Fake I would expect this to trigger a staff review.
It’s a judgement call but if you see one that is pinned outside someone’s house that is definitely not there then the likely-hood is they are trying for a couch stop and Fake is the correct way to go. If they are incorrectly positioning enough that you can’t see the real location then it is down to them if they have to make an argument that it was an error.
I did the street search looking for the cinderblock building in it, and there were none on that street. I usually do incorrect location.
Thanks for the help
